Gary had a shortwave antenna strung to chimney. Lightning hit chimney & blew out every window in house + split front door. Biggest bang i hope to never hear again.
The English Electric Lightning is a supersonic jet fighter aircraft of the Cold War era, noted for its great speed. It is the only all-British Mach 2 fighter aircraft and was the first aircraft in the world capable of supercruise. The Lightning was renowned for its capabilities as an interceptor; pilots commonly described it as "being saddled to a skyrocket".
Built as an F.3, XR728 first flew on 17th March 1965, being delivered to Warton for storage until converted to an F.6 and then delivered to 23 Squadron in November 1967. She also served with 5, 56, and 11 Squadrons and the LTF, finishing her career with the LTF as the Binbrook Station CO's personal aircraft (hence the 'JS' coding on the fin). After retirement she was bought by the Lightning Preservation Group and her final flight was to Bruntingthorpe on 24th June 1988. XR728 is very well looked after by the LPG and performs regular fast taxi runs on the long runway at Bruntingthorpe airfield.

The infrared trigger in the galaxy keeps the camera going, the lightning's own infrared triggers between timed shots. It was noticed because one frame of hundres is brighter than the all the others.
This is pretty much the only shot I got of the lightning storm last night. I worked during most of it and as I drove home to grab my camera gear i realized one important thing: I have no idea where to go in SLC to get a good lightning shot. So I went to the closest & best place I knew. The trail head right next to parleys canyon (off 33rd south). I originally thought It would be cool to get lightning over the valley, but I soon realized the lightning was happening behind me. so I turned around and snapped this shot.
Nice lightning storm in Peoria, AZ (West Phoenix) tonight. When it got close and started pouring rain, I skedaddled for cover!
30 second exposure at f/5.6 and ISO 100.
Strolling about Bangkok this afternoon when a storm rolled in. I managed to catch a bolt of lightning hitting something in the city (not a person, I hope). It's a rough-and-ready photo as I didn't have a lot of time to react. I'm not sure what the dark patch is near the top; maybe its a trick of the flash of lightning (hopefully no damage).
