The biggest lightning storm I have even experience and seen living on the West coast. A friend of mine ran out side to catch some lightning. Unprepared with a garbage tripod as it started to rain. So improvising in my pjs I took off my shirt to shield my camera body from the rain. With my 30ft cable release I decided to get artsy and take some self portraits in front of the camera. This is one of the best shots I have ever taken. You got the busy traffic on the left, nature on the right and myself standing on the train tracks admire and appreciating the awesomeness of my mother nature.

Before you say anything, I know it could be done better.
Since this is the first time ever I tried and managed to capture lightning on digital film I dare say that I could have done worse.

The storm in the wee early ours of the morning on August 21st brought some spectacular lightning over the Peone Prarie and Green Bluff.
The only English Electric Lightnings still flying in the world. These old 1960 cold war monsters are based at Cape Town's Thunder City the largest collection of heavy metal jets in private hands in the world. These old jets still hold world performance records!
Their pilots know them as the "Frightening" because of their skittish handling when landing in strong cross winds.
Lightning in the Dolomites over Canazai. We had some strong storms that lit up the sky. I wasn't able to use my tripod so I improvised with a pillow balanced on the balcony rail and flower box along with a timer. Took about fifteen shots to get lucky.
The English Electric Lightning is a supersonic jet fighter aircraft of the Cold War era, noted for its great speed. It is the only all-British Mach 2 fighter aircraft and was the first aircraft in the world capable of supercruise. The Lightning was renowned for its capabilities as an interceptor; pilots commonly described it as "being saddled to a skyrocket".
Built as an F.3, XR728 first flew on 17th March 1965, being delivered to Warton for storage until converted to an F.6 and then delivered to 23 Squadron in November 1967. She also served with 5, 56, and 11 Squadrons and the LTF, finishing her career with the LTF as the Binbrook Station CO's personal aircraft (hence the 'JS' coding on the fin). After retirement she was bought by the Lightning Preservation Group and her final flight was to Bruntingthorpe on 24th June 1988. XR728 is very well looked after by the LPG and performs regular fast taxi runs on the long runway at Bruntingthorpe airfield.
