We flew near a thunderstorm. There was lightning. I shot about 50 pictures, and got lucky to sorta catch some lightning a couple of times.

Took over 250 exposures to get these pictures!
Chocolate Cake for 35 ppl, 2nd birthday of the twins. That was my first take on "off the board"cake - the one that is not sitting directly on the board, only wheels are touching it. All edible.
combined multiple lightning shots using layer masks and blending modes. the shots were all on a tripod, so the register was right on, the difficulty was in the varied light exposure in each one--If I spent about 4 to 5 hours on this I could really make it perfect... maybe some day.
Lightning over Perth taken from our balcony. The lightning looks a lot closer than it is. I suspect it was way out over the ocean but it's hard to tell.
I sure hope lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place, because I would hate to see all that seasoned hay go up in flames.

Another Carved Cake! (My second). Not very original maybe, but I think he turned out ok. I was sooo relieved when he was finished
This and the previous photo were taken less than a minute apart as I tried to capture the lightning storms going off inside the clouds.

A lightning bolt out over Melbournes eastern suburbs, seen from Royal Park.
For use on the 7pm Victorian News.
Thunder storms were in the forecast, but they often miss us to the south or head out over the lake. Knowing that, we headed to the marina to watch the show and were rewarded with a bit of nature's fireworks (to the south). Even better - my phone actually caught a bit of the lightning, even the reflection on the water.
