Tree and fence - LomoChrome Purple - iso 200 - Minolta X-570 - Easton, PA - scanned on Epson V600.

A light pole down about 3.5 miles from the coast.

Many times, I see pigeons roosting on the light poles at the intersection of Coral Ridge Avenue and Commerce Drive in Iowa City.

This is No. 4 of a series of five photos showing autumn colours in our village. Most of the leaves are already fallen down in early November, but some trees still have colour decoration.

I love photographing the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom. What I dont love are those light poles that obstruct your view. I just think they were poorly placed or they could have made them retractable to take down during certain shows that don't require them. Please enjoy and have a magical day!

Light Pole, New York City. This shot was from mixed travel projects in New York City in 2017.

A Wheeling & Lake Erie empty stone train shoves its train towards the siding at Summit Street in downtown Akron. Power for the train is a quartet of SD40-2s, with three in the W&LE's Rio Grande-inspired orange and black and a fourth in ex-CITX leasing blue and white.

Photographed in San Jose, California

My preference is to always photograph animals and birds in their natural habit and would have much preferred to photograph this beautiful Cooper's Hawk while it was sitting on tree branch instead of a light pole. Realistically, however, given the encroachment of suburbia, this lamp pole *is* part of it's natural habitat and one it uses to it's distinct advantage. I first noticed this hawk while I was driving down the road on my way to an appointment, well over an hour before I was able to photograph it, when it was sitting on a *different* nearby lamp pole . When I was finally able to return to the area to photograph it, I watched and photographed as it swiveled it's head around while perusing the surrounding area and it was quite obvious that it uses the light poles as excellent 25 foot high perches from which to spot small birds in the area as they fly between the much lower bushes.

Note: I had previously seen and photographed adult Cooper's Hawks with red eyes and not orange ones as with this bird. Consequently I searched and found a great resource regarding the eye color of Cooper's Hawks and Sharp-shinned Hawks. Check it out:

I wish I would have got rid of the light pole but I liked these ice bars so sometimes you got to go with what is there. I was hip deep in a snow drift up by Mammoth Lakes Elementary school and at least I had fun getting this from the back side. It was nice to get back and drink some hot tea after that little hike.

I loved the patterns and balance of the support cables and light poles.

. . . "You dare enter my presence mere human?" Female Snowy Owl number 25 sits on her usual light pole and has been here most of the last month, chasing off other owls and oblivious to the traffic jams she creates on the intersection below. At least just about everyone in town who wishes to see the Queen knows where to find her!
