There is always light at the end of the tunnel: Peace for everyone in the world. Keep hope and stay healthy during 2024
Feeling the constant war between the darkness and the light. I can’t find the words to express it so I make pictures.
Day 18
____________________________
As a way to cope with circumstances beyond my control, survive and work to keep fighting for life I decided to try to take at least one photo (or more) each day. I call this “a photo (or more) a day.” Practicing this form of therapeutic photography helps me work to focus on the present moment, gives me something familiar and enjoyable to focus on as I use photography skills that have become like second-nature to me and being able to view the images I capture helps me recall what I was thinking, feeling and noticing at the moment when I created the photos. More of the photos from this series can be seen on my Instagram account
I may not always have the energy, time or capacity to share photos from this series—especially with the very challenging circumstances my family and I are experiencing—and will do my best to continue taking a photo (or more) a day even if I’m not able to share.
If you would like to support my work and my family, one way you can do so is by ordering my zines:
Many thanks for your support.
This week has all been about the Country Club Plaza and its festive holiday lights. Again I was without my tripod so I planted myself square in the middle of the street and set up the long exposure with the camera on the ground of the median. I was looking for a little luck here for some dazzling lights, car trails, and some unexpected creative fun. I particularly like the car light starburst in the middle of the frame. I need to go back down with my tripod but I thought this turned out fairly good. Thoughts?

Anvilcloud and I hopped in the van made a rush to the old fire station to catch some of the light from this sunset unencumbered by hills and power lines. A photo he captured that evening may be seen here.
...we are made of light, in everything there is light, and when we can't see it, we must know it is just a moment...light is all we need to see this beautiful special world...
I was going to wait until it was really dark but I decided I would just turn the little light bulb on!!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... thanks to you all.
I've been taking pics lately without much attention to the usual photo rules of composition, lighting, subject, etc., instead focusing on color, lines, and shapes for the simple pleasures of capturing those qualities. Rather than processing them in Lightroom, I play around with those elements in an app designed to stretch the pixels beyond reality into other-worldly delights.
The story behind this image, whose meaning evolved as I played with various manipulations, ended with that diamond of light and the minute by minute increase of daylight that brightens my mood on stormy gray days.
It began with my morning soy milk with a dash of maple syrup and vanilla (I prefer controlling add-ins rather than buying the pre-made). I stirred in the maple syrup then poured a couple drops of vanilla into the cup with an immediate roiling of the surface leaving a pattern of orange and purplish swirls.
Art is in the eye of the cup holder.
A fun night out with friends & several lovely young dancers. A home made light stick and Magic can happen
Shot with homemade 18" light wands and a Nitecore MT1A torch. Camera settings Shot in bulb mode at F/8
ISO 160
Total Exposure length of 208 sec
Another Twin Peaks night shot, from the same series as my previous photo. This time, a telephoto long exposure shot of downtown San Francisco, still all lit up from Christmas.
Taken with the D800E, processed in Photoshop.
I found this one lane road over a small dam on a lake. The fog was very thick. The Sun had already rose, but the fog diffused the light.
This is a three-image focus stack

I went to my cousins recently. She has a very picturesque home. I love all the decor and I can not WAIT to go back next weekend.
