Downloaded off my DeviantArt as I am leaving the site due to the widely unpopular (and quite frankly, cumbersom) eclipse release. Photos are not be in the original upload order.

The third of the Wasp class of amphibious assault ships, it is named after a WW-II aircraft carrier that was in service well into the 1960s.
This Kearsarge was launched in 1992, and commissioned on May 16, 1993.
Not only does it have a flat deck, used for landing and takeoffs of helicopters, AV-8 Harrier attack jets and V-22 Ospreys, it also has bay at water level in its stern, that opens up to accommodate LCACs (Landing Craft, Air Cushion) vehicles that can carry assault troops to the beach.
Behind the Kearsarge, is the LHD 1 Wasp, in drydock.
6943. The scale of the LHD Amphibious Assault Ship is impressive here, where the handsome sight of HMAS MELBOURNE [II]'s bows, enclosed to the flight deck, once loomed perhaps not half so tall as CANBERRA [III]'S 13 degrees ski jump deck shown here. The height of the ship, with its hangar decks for helicopters, amphibious landing craft and Army vehicles, is well illustrated by the men standing by her bow lines. The height of the flight deck from the waterline is 27.50m [just over 90ft]. While first in Sydney, CANBERRA [II] was scheduled to enter the Captain Cook Graving Dock for a hull clean and painting before returning to BAE in Melbourne for further testing of her combat systems. We're hoping to see a photo of the bulky 232.8m [557ft] long vessel in dry dock, as that promises to be even more imposing, and will invite comparison with ships docked there in the past. One of the ships four Rafael Typhoon 25mm remotely controlled defensive weapons can be seen in the bow space here. NOTICE ON VIEWING THE PHOTOSTREAM: We have discovered by looking at view counts that very few people are now accessing the first and middle sections of this long Photostream, where there are thousands of fine images of RAN Ships and overseas Navy ships visiting Australia. This, along with the loss of immediately visible access to the photo headings and text, is another unfortunate outcome of the Flickr re-design a year or so ago, which left thousands of users unhappy. We have begun re-creating this Photostream in something like the old, simple but good format on the European photo-hosting site Ipernity, and you can easily access all the early pages and their information there. A huge task, it remains a work-in-progress, but you can presently enjoy many of the early pages, starting here:
