As part of the school extra-curriculum activities, Phin Ngan primary school students get to learn embroidery from a Dzao ethnic craftswoman. Oxfam's project supports such activities to get children feel more engaged with the school life. Training young students about traditional craft also helps to preserve the rich ethnic cultures.

Designed for elementary school students, Learning Pet enriches lessons by creating a physical interface to interact with the virtual world. We demonstrate a number sorting game, where the student interacts with the robot to blast virtual UFO's with the lowest value. Correct answers are celebrated with a wing flap, and each level-up with a dance. We use the Accessory Development Kit to interface with mobile devices while away from the computer.

"Human Conversation is the most ancient and easiest way to cultivate the conditions of change -- personal change, community and organizational change, planetary change. If we can sit together and talk about what is important to us, we begin to come alive. We share what we see, what we feel, and we listen to what others see and feel."

A development in learning to read in a new language -- I looked at this package and read the word "i-chi-go" (strawberry) in hiragana before reading the English. Granted, I can tell that these are strawberries without any words at all, but learning is still exciting.

One of my favorite learning 'spots' is Twitter. I know that for the most

part things shared have been vetted by individuals I respect (excluding avid

golfers). I can quickly scan the Tweets, Favorite those I'd like to explore

further, I can access from ANY device & from ANY location & at ANY time --

that's how my students like to learn & so do I!
