A leaf I liked the look of in the glasshouse at Wisley. It is lit from behind but is quite large and thick so that the light doesn't drown everything out.
We don't have a lot of red leaves falling this time of year in San Diego County, so when I saw this one in front of the Santee library I took it home to exploit.
Strobist info: I set this down on a piece of black foam board and then lit it with a YN560-II in a 24 inch soft box camera left about 3 inches from the leaf. The flash in manual mode was triggered by a Yongnuo RF-603N.
Other plants, flowers, fruit or thingys that I've photographed using strobes can be seen in my Strobe Lit Plant set. In the description for that set, I list resources that I've used to learn how to light with off camera flash, and the equipment that I use. www.flickr.com/photos/9422878@N08/sets/72157628079460544/
Taken on a beautiful morning walk with my dog. I love the bokeh I get from the 50mm 1.4:)

This is a leaf from my annual fall tree that I photograph each year. Taken on October 17th, 2020 with my Sony Alpha SLT-a77v. I would have taken a shot of this leaf on film, only I forgot to write down one picture I took on the roll and miscalculated how many frames I had left. This would have been the last shot on the roll otherwise.
The former Gold Leaf Studio near 5th and I Streets in the Mount Vernon Triangle is now the subject of debate regarding the site's future development. While the building itself isn't terribly special, it would be more interesting to include it into whatever condo block the developers have in mind for the site.
