Approximately 2,000 students from throughout Elizabeth Public Schools attended morning and afternoon Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D.) Class of 2018 graduation ceremonies at the Thomas G. Dunn Sports Center. Among the speakers at the graduation ceremonies were L.E.A.D. officers Richard Hurler, Jennifer Perez, and Ina Silva of the Elizabeth Police Department; Elizabeth Board of Education President Maria Carvalho and Board member Stanley Neron; and Elizabeth Public Schools Superintendent Olga Hugelmeyer. Essynce Moore, a 16-year-old motivational speaker and founder of fashion line Essynce Couture, served as the special guest speaker, encouraging students to dream big and strive for their goals. L.E.A.D. officers Hurler, Perez, and Silva announced the winners of the L.E.A.D. essay contest and had all of the students stand to recite the L.E.A.D. pledge to end each of the ceremonies.
