Lead testing is performed on a home where lead had been found prior to renovations. Testing for lead involves collecting samples from various locations inside and out, including in soil around the home. June 19, 2020.
"This is a Scrabo sandstone church, but one that has undergone little conservation. It exhibits a variety of decay types, including the rapid retreat of individual blocks. This occurs when a block loses an outer layer of material through, for example, the falling away of a large scale. The effect of this is to produce a hollow in which salts can continue to accumulate because it is sheltered from rainwash. This salt accumulation, combined with the higher humidity in the shadow of the hollow, creates an excellent environment for accelerated decay. This reinforcement process is known as 'positive feedback' and it means that once decay is 'switched on' in these kinds of weak sandstones it becomes very difficult to turn off.
Part of the detailing on the church includes a string course of Doulting limestone. This is a potential source of gypsum for the quartz sandstone, and it is possible to see how this has lead to the decay of blocks below the limestone. Gypsum can also wash out of the mortars and this can lead to the formation of gypsum crusts on the top parts of stone blocks. The final feature is the growth of algae and lichen on many blocks. There is anecdotal evidence that this greening of sandstone buildings has become widespread across Northern Ireland over the last couple of years and you will see other examples on buildings such as the Elmwood Hall at the other end of the Avenue. Recent work by the Weathering Research Group has suggested that this greening may be linked to changes in weather conditions in which winters have become milder and wetter. This has resulted in stonework remaining saturated for long periods of time, which in turn might encourage biological colonisation and growth. Whether this represents a short-term effect or is indicative of a longer-term change in climate will take more research. However, if it is indicative of a permanent environmental change, it might mean that we have to change many of our ideas about building stone decay. The frequency of the wetting and drying of salts could, for example, decrease and with it the effectiveness of salt weathering. But we would have to take the effects of biological weathering much more seriously. Likewise, conservators may find less call for the treatment of gypsum crusts and a greater interest in the effectiveness of biocide treatments."

Approximately 2,000 students from throughout Elizabeth Public Schools attended morning and afternoon Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D.) Class of 2018 graduation ceremonies at the Thomas G. Dunn Sports Center. Among the speakers at the graduation ceremonies were L.E.A.D. officers Richard Hurler, Jennifer Perez, and Ina Silva of the Elizabeth Police Department; Elizabeth Board of Education President Maria Carvalho and Board member Stanley Neron; and Elizabeth Public Schools Superintendent Olga Hugelmeyer. Essynce Moore, a 16-year-old motivational speaker and founder of fashion line Essynce Couture, served as the special guest speaker, encouraging students to dream big and strive for their goals. L.E.A.D. officers Hurler, Perez, and Silva announced the winners of the L.E.A.D. essay contest and had all of the students stand to recite the L.E.A.D. pledge to end each of the ceremonies.
100 % as found and straight from the camera I took this one a little while back and haven't decided if I like it or not. I have been feeling bad lately so I haven't been doing to well taking new shots. Hopefully I will be back in full swing soon.
Cyndi Koonse introduced the speaker for the LEAD event "Hydroponics, Aquaponics, and You" on April 22 in the Ivy Room of Tucker Dining Hall. The information presented involved sustainable gardens grown without soil. There was a discussion about the consumption of genetically modified plants and how you can avoid GMOs by growing your own.

Lead is still burnt in the fuel here. Long hours sitting in traffic with trucks that have exhuast pipes pointed at your car produces black snot. Precautions taken, shit pay warrented.
Seen at a gas station (still in operation) in a small Swabian town: The signs on this gas pump say that you can choose between diesel, premium (unleaded or leaded) and regular gas.
I chose unleaded premium but wondered what I would have come out of the “leaded premium” hose. Leaded gas was phased out in 1996 and became illegal in Europe in 2000.

Lead pastor of the Rochester, Minnesota, Covenant Church. Last year he convened a meeting of about a dozen medical people from the three Covenant churches in Rochester, many of them affiliated with the Mayo Clinic, all of them interested in the work the Paul Carlson Partnership is doing in Congo. Executive Director Byron Miller and Dr. Eric Gunnoe met with them to discuss possible future collaboration.
Now, these are pretty rare... a company here was selling them a long time ago as a special series. Managed to talk a friend into exchanging it for a normal powder-coated lead weight. Thanks Gracjan, this is brilliant!
