Lead-alloy toy, 1906
This toy is a miniature example of the water-carts that the authors Charles Kingsley, Charles Blachford Mansfield and John Malcolm Forbes Ludlow bought to deliver clean drinking water to the residents. Kingsley read accounts of Jacob's Island in the Morning Chronicle. He was motivated to see the conditions for himself. The experience also inspired and provided settings for his 1850 novel Alton Locke.

Secret Rivers combines art and archaeology, with mudlarking, photography, film and much more to uncover the mysteries of London’s rivers, both those that flow above ground and those that have been buried beneath our feet.
The exhibition shows how London has been shaped by the Thames and its tributaries, and how they have in turn been shaped by Londoners. It explores how the Effra, Fleet, Neckinger, Lea, Tyburn, Walbrook, Wandle and Westbourne have been exploited for transport and industry, enjoyed and revered, and have influenced artists and writers.

STE is one of Spokane's first bands to play all original music, and that's what they'll be doing that night. They're reuniting for one badass concert so don't miss your chance. When I photographed them during a practice session a few months ago, they sounded great. The music had a new flavor and edge to it, every bit as dynamic and vital as it ever was, if not better. I'll be there taking some photos and enjoying the show. Say howdy if you see me!

Playing with smaller features from Arts Centre. Architect was Benjamin Mountfort completed in 1877. The Arts Centre was badly damaged in the earthquakes and has undergone extensive restoration. I enjoy finding the different gargoyles that feature in unexpected places.
This is the reverse of a lead token. It appears to show a hand held balance or possibly a merchants mark. If looked at the other way up, then what might be an animal is seen at the top. There are four pellets in the field with further pellets around the edge. The piece is 26mm in diameter. W. 7g.
A late 17c early 18c date is likely, the piece acting as a penny? Recorded by the Portable Antiquities Scheme under LANCUM-9BBDE1.
Magpie Mine
This mine was the last working lead mine in the Derbyshire ore field and is one of the best-surviving examples in the UK of a 19th-century lead mine.
The mine has a fascinating history spanning more than 200 years of bonanzas and failures, of bitter disputes and fights resulting in the “murder” of three miners, and a Widows’ Curse that is said to remain to this day.
The mine closed for the last time in 1954.
A Scheduled Ancient Monument since 1974.
Now one of the top industrial heritage sites in Derbyshire.

The Cornish Engine House
Built in 1869 to house a beam engine, which powered pumps to raise water to the surface and prevent the mine workings from flooding.
Later the high cost of coal prompted the mine owners to drive a drainage tunnel, known as Magpie Slough, between the main shaft and the River Wye.

Saya sebagai Ketua Yayasan BCF, didampingi Pak Imbang sebagai CEO BCF tukar pikiran dan berdiskusi bersama anak-anak muda ini. Senang sekali melihat semangat, inovasi, dan program/gerakan nyata yang mereka lakukan di masyarakat.
Melalui BCF, kami tidak hanya membantu anak muda berprestasi untuk mengakses pendidikan lebih tinggi, tetapi juga mencoba mencetak sebanyak mungkin pemimpin masa depan yang akan memajukan Indonesia.
