In 2010, in the lead up to a Federal election, our politicians are trampling on Australia's proud history of helping refugees fleeing war and persecution, and punishing these most desperate of people to score political points.

On Saturday 8 May, people around Australia gathered to form human life rings, and show our politicians on all sides that they've got it wrong - Australians do care about saving lives and we won't accept punishment of people to win votes. There's not many original square lead drainpipes left these days, most having long since been stolen. I can only assume the location of this one has saved it.

Stewart Silver-Lead Company

Kellogg, Shoshone County, Idaho

Postmark: Not Applicable

Remark: Stewart Silver-Lead Company, located in Kellogg, Shoshone County, Idaho, was incorporated in the State of Idaho on November 21, 1923. The company forfeited its corporate status on November 30, 1929, due to inactivity.

The company was previously known under the incorporated name of Stewart Mining Company and had controlling interest in the Nabob Silver-Lead Company the Stewart mine.

Reincorporation as the Stewart Silver-Lead Company was intended to infuse new capital into operations at the Nabob mines so that these mines would be producing enough commodities to be profitable and, therefore, pay dividends. The company also leased its old Stewart mine on a royalty basis.

This page is about my husband, how we (my kids and I, plus his extended family), depend on him...how he usually ends up driving in the lead, how this year he planned our family vacation (for 17 of us!). I took these photos while he was driving the pontoon boat he'd rented for all of us to enjoy while on vacation.

He puts a lot of pressure on himself, and we love him for all he does for us. <3

I used this cool sketch:

Note: the chevron paper I used is behind the wood circle/anchor accent - I only had a little bit of matching paper left!

And I was inspired by this challenge:

Supplies I used -

F - Felt letters

A - Arrow, Anchor

T - Twine

H - Heidi Swapp stamps (in title block)

E - Elle's Studio letter stickers

R - Red, Ranger ink

Lead-alloy toy, 1906

This toy is a miniature example of the water-carts that the authors Charles Kingsley, Charles Blachford Mansfield and John Malcolm Forbes Ludlow bought to deliver clean drinking water to the residents. Kingsley read accounts of Jacob's Island in the Morning Chronicle. He was motivated to see the conditions for himself. The experience also inspired and provided settings for his 1850 novel Alton Locke.

Part of Secret Rivers

(May – October 2019)

Secret Rivers combines art and archaeology, with mudlarking, photography, film and much more to uncover the mysteries of London’s rivers, both those that flow above ground and those that have been buried beneath our feet.

The exhibition shows how London has been shaped by the Thames and its tributaries, and how they have in turn been shaped by Londoners. It explores how the Effra, Fleet, Neckinger, Lea, Tyburn, Walbrook, Wandle and Westbourne have been exploited for transport and industry, enjoyed and revered, and have influenced artists and writers.

My friend Nima and his band Seeking the Elephant will be playing the Bing Crosby Theater on Friday, April 29th at 7:00 pm. You should go!

STE is one of Spokane's first bands to play all original music, and that's what they'll be doing that night. They're reuniting for one badass concert so don't miss your chance. When I photographed them during a practice session a few months ago, they sounded great. The music had a new flavor and edge to it, every bit as dynamic and vital as it ever was, if not better. I'll be there taking some photos and enjoying the show. Say howdy if you see me!

The lead mining industry brought great wealth to Muker and its Literary Institute reflects this. It was built in 1867 from public subscription and by the end of the nineteenth century contained 600 books. It is a rather unusual building with its ornate almost Flemish-style stone façade. No one knows why this particular style was chosen for Muker. It ceased functioning as a literary institute in the postwar period and became the practice room for the Muker Silver band in 1994.

The surface remains at Magpie Mine are probably the best example in the UK of a 19th. century lead mine. It has a fascinating history spanning more than 200 years of bonanzas and failures, of bitter disputes and fights resulting in the "murder" of three miners, and a Widows' Curse that is said to remain to this day.

The saving grace lead us to a room in the back. There was another man sitting at a table with a shotgun in front of him. He looked up at me and asked me my name. I told him my callsign "Reaper". "Ok Reaper, What did you see out there?" He asked. "Not much, just lots of smoke." I answered. "Well I don't know either, but I have a feeling that whatever is attacking us isn't human. It's something else." After he finished I asked him his name. He told me it was Iren. (Before anything happened, we were on a deployment in Pakistan to aid a rebel group) He was a Pakistani Rebel.

Mooresville, NC - The Goodguys 23rd Lone Star Nationals went off without a hitch this past weekend. Three days of beautiful weather made it the perfect weekend for autocrossing, a cruise along the high banks of Texas Motor Speedway and much more.

Autocrossing started early Friday morning with some cooler temps for early fall in Texas. Kyle and the DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car came out firing and by lunchtime had the top Pro Class time with a 52.513. When not autocrossing, Kyle was keeping the BFGoodrich Rival S tires nice and warm underneath come custom tire warmers that were made specifically for the DSE 1970 Camaro Test Car. The PRO class and Street Machine classes saw fierce and close competition all weekend. Kyle lead all day on Friday until Robbie Unser put down a great lap near the end of the day and took over the lead. Saturday morning Kyle regained the lead and held on to it until mid-day on Saturday when Mike Dusold ran a lap that no one else could catch. With Kyle's 2nd place finish he kept a hold of his overall Pro Class points lead. The Street Machine class was also highly competitive and in the end Derrick Torres was the winner with his DSE Equipped, Dusold built 1968 Camaro and punched his ticket to the Goodguys Autocross Finals in Scottsdale in November. Jakey Sampson was there on Sunday representing DSE with her 5th Gen DSE "Equipped" Camaro.

This was another great event for the Goodguys Rod & Custom Association. The Detroit Speed Team will now shift gears as Kyle prepares for the Optima "Search for the Ultimate Street Car" event in Fontana. This is the last event before the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in Las Vegas Nov. 7th - 8th.

Goodguys Fort Worth Highlights:

• Kyle finished in 2nd place in the Pro Class and added to his overall Pro Class points lead

• Mike Dusold won the Pro Class in his 1967 Camaro

• Derrick Torres won the Street Machine Class in his DSE "Equipped" 1968 Camaro and qualified for the finals
