I'm quite behind on flickr- just returned this afternoon from a trip to the South of France to meet an old friend who lives in Aubagne, near Marseille. I particularly wanted to see the lavender fields and so we took a day trip up towards Valensole and a large area of lavender fields. I took this one just as the sun, which was a beautiful golden ball, was setting to my left.

I threw my Polaroid GO in my bag and went down the road to @lavender_kisses_farm for the first ever Lavender Fest and had to stop at the flower truck from @ivycornercamden to make my own bouquet for $20! Beautiful flowers, beautiful truck, and a beautiful festival! All local to West Tennessee too!

I am thrilled to have a bit of time to go over some of my latest images from abroad! This one is from Provence. My wife and I have always wanted to see the lavender fields and wow what an overload of purple we saw! Not only did we come back with loads of lavender photos but also lavender soaps, lavender lotions, lavender essential oils, lavender herbal remedies, more oils did I say soap?! Our luggage still smells like Provence!

Mimos de Arnoia is a project of organic agriculture. In this farm aromatic plants and essential oils are produced. Lavender and roses are the main flowers, but also other edible flowers can be found here (Cosmos flowers, Calendula and Aquileia). This is an organic and sustainable agriculture project, and diversity is the best condition to keep it going with success. There is also a garden where vegetables of all kinds are produced to feed the people that work in this farm. These workers are mostly WWOOFFERs, that is to say, willing workers on organic farmers, an interesting idea to create a more sustainable way of life (wwoof.net/).
I spent one day here photographing the whole farm and some activities. It was such a lovely day!
