A rather intriguingly shaped glitter lamp that is although in a bad condition could be restored and make a wonderful glitter lamp. I love the strange non linear look to this model. This features an interesting shaped bottle and the base and cap seem to add to the wierdness of this piece. Again this particular lamp would need to be refilled and the base would need to be polished or restored. The manufacturer of these lamps remains unknown, I am afraid.

White Vintage Glitter Lamp featuring cutout that shows the inner bottle's contents working. Will need to be refilled.

This sits on my desk at work.

Wow, how did I live without one for so long? We had when I was growing up, but it was probably tossed in the late 1970's. Dave's still not here.

August 2007

As an activity with my honors class, we made lava lamps!

I draw these out on a piece of copper, etch them, then saw them out. Solder pin backs on, color, patina (for those nice black lines) and seal for longevity. Meredith helped me with cleaning up this batch.. Seems like the only place they are all together flat.. these were just laid in the scanner and scanned..

Cwd173 : Light in the frame. The Kodak guides from the 70’s will tell you to put the sun behind the photographer, shining on the subjects face. This invariably results in pictures where the subjects are squinting into a bright vacation sun. Your challenge is to present an image where a light source is in the frame. The light in your image does not need to be the sole source. Realize having a light in your image may freak your exposure meter out. Have an idea of the image you’re after, then execute it. Don’t be satisfied until you achieve your vision.

Old radio made of bakelite. A Philco Transitone from 1948.

Lava lamp still works. Radio would take some repair, but I bet it could work too.

L'unico modo per fotografare la lavalamp: un flash dietro e uno di lato.

This wonderful Russian Glitter lamp was seen for ebay on ebay france a while back. I love the metal pieces that attach from the base of the lamp to the cap. The oversized cap adds interest to the lamp and gives the lamp a sense of style and character. These images show different parts of the lamp from different views and show this wonderful lamp. These USSR lamps are rather unique.

Mathmos, manufacturers of the Lava Lamp, invented by Edward Craven Walker in 1963 will be celebrating their 50th anniversary in September. To celebrate I replaced the bulb and fired it back up. Happy Birthday Lava Lamp.
