English Language Fellow Hannah Murphy along with Tesfaye Habtemariam and Mulualem Eshete, faculty members from the Department of English Language and Literature at Arba Minch University, delivered training on how to use English in the class rooms for #ArbaMinch University instructors. The goal of the workshop was to provide instructors with an opportunity to discuss the role of English in their classrooms and think critically about their own use of English in their classrooms.

For many years Tuttle has also been a collector and historian of textiles from around the world. He is fascinated by the process of weaving, as warp and weft combine threads into a pattern; and by the differing techniques and technologies which ensure that every culture has its own unique approach to making textiles. He has also considered the links between textiles and language, such as the ways in which grammar weaves together sound and meaning.
Drawing upon these concerns, I Don't Know . The Weave of Textile Language is a project composed of three parts; a survey of his work at the Whitechapel Gallery, which focuses on his use of fabric and textiles from 1967 to 2014; a book conceived in close collaboration with the artist, and a specially commissioned sculpture in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern.
This is the largest sculpture that Tuttle has ever made, though the artist stresses that his concern is with scale rather than size. Like all of his work, it represents a determined engagement with the space that it occupies. The hanging structure incorporates three fabrics manufactured for the project by textile mills in Surat, India, in each case combining man-made and natural fibres to achieve the colour and textures specified by the artist.

The rose shows the twitter activity per hour of the day, starting at 00:00 at the top, displayed as local time. Calgary is a morning city with more activity between eight and twelve than through out the afternoon and evening. The graphs show the platform of preference used to send the tweet and the language set respectively.

Salerno is a city and comune in Campania (south-western Italy) and is the capital of the province of the same name. It is located on the Gulf of Salerno on the Tyrrhenian Sea.
Salerno is the main town close to the Amalfi Coast, and is mostly known for its Schola Medica Salernitana, the first medical school in the world. In the 16th century, under the Sanseverino family, among the most powerful feudal lords in Southern Italy, the city became a great centre of learning, culture and the arts, and the family hired several of the greatest intellectuals of the time. Later, in 1694, the city was struck by several catastrophic earthquakes and plagues and afterwards a period of Spanish rule which would last until the 18th century. After that, Salerno became part of the Parthenopean Republic and saw a period of Napoleonic rule.
In recent history the city hosted the King of Italy, who moved from Rome in 1943 after Italy negotiated a peace with the Allies in World War II. A brief so-called "government of the South" was then established in the town, that became the "capital" of Italy for some months. Natural Language by Jennifer Macklem and Kip Jones, located in front of the Kelowna Public Library. This work rotates on an axis and is very easy to turn, but I couldn't tell if a wind was capable of turning it due to the lack of breeze.
Not great pictures, but I had so much fun watching the sign language interpreters re-enact the songs that the Hillbillies were playing. The lady was SO into it, it was genuinely fun to watch. This was Ghost Riders in the Sky and during the "yippie kay-yay, yippie kay-yo" part she did this slow motion lasso move? And it was so cool.

Bloomsburg University’s Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program recently promoted literacy with Danville Head Start students at the Aphasia Center in Danville, using resources from the BU Toy Library for a joint therapy session with Aphasia patients.

I was standing in front of these guys for 10 minutes taking photos. This is the last & best. When I left, the mother looked straight at me and raised her right arm exactly as though waving goodbye. I've read that language in chimps may have begun as gestural rather than verbal and she certainly would have seen lots of goodbye waves from visiting children so perhaps monkeys also have the neural wiring for a language of gestures? In any case, I waved back...
