TRADITIONAL CLOTHES
Ishpata Baba means hello in KALASHA language.
The Kalasha/ Kalash tribe are indigenous (some of them have blonde hair and blue eyes) residing in the Chitral District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa. They are animist.
I borrowed a traditional dress from one of the women and spent an afternoon walking along their village with them. 😊

VIRTLANTIS is a free resource and open community of practice for language learners and teachers in the virtual world of Second Life®. We offer free informal language learning activities for a growing number of languages including English, French, Spanish, German, Chinese, etc. All of our activities are offered free of charge by volunteer language teachers and/or native speakers.
Everyone is welcome to offer a language activity at VIRTLANTIS. We provide free resources and ongoing support. We also collaborate with and promote other language communities in Second Life.
In addition to our main island and the various social meeting points at Knowingly, we have additional locations which can be used when needed.

Underwater Odyssey snorkeling sea tour in Pattaya 16 December 2024

This is the former library block believe it or not. And on the left is where all the language labs are located on the first floor, and all the administrative offices and the Colonel's office on the second floor.

Christmas is the best time of the year, and it is important to see how other cultures celebrate this special holiday. The World Language Trip took a trip to a German Christmas Village in Love Park in Philadelphia. Students were able to watch a glass-blowing demonstration, and paint their own ornaments. Afterwards, students shopped the village and ate German sausages while learning about the culture.
Student Jessica Ruble (Grade 12) says, "I didn't have German as a language so it was really fun walking around, shopping, and looking at German crafts. I really enjoyed what the village offered to give people a better understanding of the culture."
Students could learn more about the culture by doing a scavenger hunt that involved answering questions about German culture. Some questions involved how long German festivals lasted in Germany.
" I liked being able to shop and talking tot he shop keepers about the German customs. Apparently, the christmas villages in Germany begin on December 1st and last for about 4 weeks", says Jessie Ruble.
There truly was something for everybody at the German Christmas Village in Philadelphia. For some people it was the food, others the shopping, and some the glassblowing.
" My favorite part was the glass blowing. I made two ornaments for my younger brothers!"
The German village is still open until December 24th at Love Park in Philadelphia. Christmas is the best time of the year, so the village is a great way to celebrate the holidays with family and friends! Happy holidays!
