As we all know , and reading from the past stories the Firth of Clyde use to be a mega destination for big cod fishing . 50 years later on we Central Scotland Kayak Anglers decided to have a go , kayak fishing and exploring . A really short drive from the big city Glasgow , Glen , Paul and myself are about to launch a mini species attack .
Prior to the trip we managed a few ragworms , digging here and there , not many but just enough to keep us going .
Light tackle ready , little hooks and jig rubber lures ready we paddled towards , nothing really far . The weather is cool , no wind , overcast with rain threatening , total grey Scottish outlook .
My today’s plan is to add some fish species to my ever growing list . The tide is light and the fishing is about to begin . In 30 ft of water Paul’s fish finder is showing massive activity .
The fun begin with a succession of catches , going on all day . Little hook , little fish but the variety is great .
haddock then colley , dab and cod , poorcod too , then whitting and goldsinny wrasse , Already 7 species without even trying .
I then fancied the small fox spikey shad and smeared it with some dynamix Wand . A few cast later a small pollock swallowed the lure .
Getting broke twice on the light gear I knew something bigger was lurking below .
Hooking a small piece of ragworm on a small jig head was about to produce the good .The rod bent double and I knew I was into a good wrasse . I got the net ready for the ballan wrasse , a good specimen .
Glen was once again into some proper sport . Playing a soft prawn his rod went nearly over the side . I thought something was going to break . Big splash about ,cool action to watch and then Glen lifted up a Clyde pollock that size , at least a 4 pounder ! To say the least a massive surprise .
Fishing the clyde estuary is fun . The fish are there and if you decided to go light , go have some fun ! But do go light !
Having said that the Clyde is not dead , it just need a small improvement , like stopping the trawlers harvesting whatever is left , making it a great place to fish again with rods and lines .

You know, I'm not a fan of collages, but I thought it was best to bore you as little as possible with a sequence of photos, made up of details, so here it is....

OK, I know this isn't going to please a lot of you, but it's absolutely delicious. A combination of grilled kangaroo steak, and stewed okra with tomato. Some places it's difficult to find 'roo (not here), and some places it's difficult to find okra (yes, here).
FOR THE ROO:
Get a (or several) roo steak(s) of around 175 grammes (a little over a third of a pound US) each, and marinate them overnight in:
a good splash of olive oil
pressed garlic clove
chopped shallot
maybe some diced onion
ground black pepper
if you've got it, Ozzie Outback seasoning
juice of 1/2 lime
a good splash of red wine
herbs of your choice (thyme?)
a splash of Maggi sauce
(and,if you like sweet stuff, some hoi sin sauce)
Get a griddle pan, preheat it to a nice medium-high temperature, and grill your steaks 4-5 minutes on a side (rotating them once, to get those nice cross-checked marks), so that they're medium rare — don't overcook, or they'll be tough!
Transfer to a plate, cover with foil, and let rest for 10 minutes or so.
While they're cooking, pour the marinade into a small pot and reduce until it's nice and 'saucy' (if there's not enough, add some dry sherry), and add a good splash of thickened cream. Stir it all around, until you've got a lovely creamy spicy sauce for your steak. Add a splash of Tabasco it you'd like.
FOR THE OKRA:
Wash it under a spray faucet in a colander, and let it drain and dry.
In a medium flat pan (a 'fait tout', deep skillet, or even a small pot) a splash — 2 or 3 tablespoons — of olive oil, add 1/2 onion finely diced, a big clove of garlic dinely diced, and maybe a shallot finely diced.
Chop the tough tops off the okra, and slice it into ±15mm (±1/2") slices across the grain.
Sautee the onion, etc., and just as it's starting to turn translucent, add the Okra and stir fry it for a couple of minutes.
Add a small tin of diced tomatoes (I would prefer fresh, maybe 2 or 3 medium finely diced, but I didn't have enough), stir it all around and add spices: salt, pepper, a dash of curry powder for depth, a splash of Maggi sauce, maybe some basil and creole spices? (If you don't have these, ground cumin, coriander, chilli, and even ras-el-hanout would do well...).
Simmer the mixture, stirring every 5 minutes or so, until it thickens (the okra will do a good job here) and looks ready to serve.

You know when fellow photographers say they have been trawling the archives well... I guess you can say this has been dragged back from the abyss...
Taken in 2006 on the Isle Of Man I recall seeing the field of wheat (Barley?) being swept about by the coastal winds, so I got out my flimsy tripod of that time, stuck my Canon 350D on top of it and set it to f/22 to capture all that motion in-front of me and in the skies above.
No NDGrads here just a photographer capturing a really special moment in the early days of his craft and as my mate Jon said when I showed him this shot he said "think sometimes we get too bogged down in the technology" , he could be right.
As many of you already know, this particular style clone doll was one of my first childhood dolls. It was actually my sisters doll ,but I would alway sneak and dress her in handmade outfits that I would make with fabric scraps and safety pins...the one I had back then had bright Orange hair and Black fishnet legs. I don’t know why I was always fascinated with those molded fishnets. Fast forward 30 years later as an adult collector I started searching for this doll, It took me several years and I finally learned a little bit about her and was able to get two minty dolls in their boxes. There’s not a lot out there about this doll, but the little bit that I learned, she was sold under at least two different names… Go-Go Gail and Bonita a Go-Go. Such cool names. I have one of each named doll in their original box and outfit. The boxes themselves are very different from each other, as are the outfits that each doll is dressed in. The doll itself is completely identical with the exception of the coloring… Same head sculpt same hair texture same body same markings, the only difference is the hair color and leg colors. As far as I know there were three different hair colors and three different legs/stocking colors. Redhead, Raven and Blonde for the hair and orange, black and white for the legs... I don’t think that there was any set combination for hair and leg coloring, as I have seen the redhead with all three stocking colors. Anyway, I recently came across this Blonde with the white stockings so I had to have her since she had the hair color and stockings I was still missing in my collection. She had no box or clothes, but I got her anyway since I may never find another one. She’s in good shape no haircuts, all original paint. Her hair is going to need a little taming as it looks like it was up in a ponytail for many years. My other two boxed girls have the very straight, Mod hair. I did not notice until I got them all side-by-side, to throw another variation into the mix this girl has bright blue eyes and make up where my other two have bold green eyes and make up... Sorry for the Novel I just wrote, lol 😂, but I do love these crazy clones and I’m so happy to have these girls in my collection.
Good morning everyone. I know, been a long time since I posted something...at least for me. Sorry about that, but it couldn't be helped. Hasn't been the best of Holiday Seasons in the Lacey household this year, then again, things could always be worse. I'm hoping by next week to get back to a more normal routine on flickr, but it's hard to tell at the moment if that will be possible. If not, then hopefully at the beginning of the new year. Until then, please bear with my lack of response to comments although I do intend to catch-up by visiting everyone over this weekend.
I thought for this Feathery Friday before Christmas I'd post a couple of pics of the always photogenic Northern Cardinal (Cardinalis cardinalis) featuring the above female for the lead photo. I posted a pic of a male in the comment section and when posting it I realized that most any other bird would probably get lost in the surroundings. But not the bright fire engine red male Cardinal, which seems to stand out no matter where perched. The above female was photographed earlier this month, while the male was photographed in November. A little snow would have made for a nice Christmasie scene, but no such luck as all we seem to be getting up to this point is rain, rain, and more rain.

I know a lot of you have been wondering why I have been out for so long. We poured a new runway all the way around the back yard..
We started in February ordering a lift for the truck to load my electric chair… Well it arrived in due time. Then we ordered a cover for it and they sent the wrong one and we had to reorder.
The docking device for the chair, in order to lift it, was the wrong one and we had to order three more times until we finally got the right one.
As that was not enough then the motor on my lift chair went out and Medicare would not cover it for I had an electric chair. If I have an electric chair, in their book , then I don’t need a lift chair. You try and figure that one out. What a great government we have that is run by such intelligent people. Well I am still waiting on the motor for the chair…It has been 4 weeks now, but being handicap, I don’t really need it.
Oh yes there is more to this story. Vernon flew to Louisiana to see about his Mother and was gone for a week. That left me at home with Mother who is 94 years old.
When he got home we needed groceries and while he was at the grocery we had water lines break We had to turn the water off outside and wait. Poor Guy had bad news when he arrive home. He had some one come out and repair it so we could have water again. A week from that day a crew came and started taking our house apart. They cut hole in every wall and had to replace all the water lines, for the copper pipes they used when we had the house built were so thin. The pipes have since been outlawed. This has been a whole week and our house is still in disarray. Every room has work going on in it except the living room. (three bedrooms, two baths, hall, den, dinning room, kitchen and laundry). They are about through floating it out and are getting ready to paint.
We will be another 2 weeks shampooing the floors and replacing all the furniture and decorations. If I could, I would run away from home. LOL…. Just in case I happen to sound crazy, then just ignore it for I probably am.
Have a wonderful weekend and I will try and survive. In case you believe in pray then say one for me, for I am in real need at this time both physically and mentally.

Not so long ago, I came up with the Golden Ratio Principle which describes why The Golden Ratio is so beautiful.
The Golden Number Ratio Principle: Dr. E’s Golden Ratio Principle: The golden ratio exalts beauty because the number is a characteristic of the mathematically and physically most efficient manners of growth and distribution, on both evolutionary and purely physical levels. The golden ratio ensures that the proportions and structure of that which came before provide the proportions and structure of that which comes after. Robust, ordered growth is naturally associated with health and beauty, and thus we evolved to perceive the golden ratio harmonies as inherently beautiful, as we saw and felt their presence in all vital growth and life—in the salient features and proportions of humans and nature alike, from the distribution of our facial features and bones to the arrangements of petals, leaves, and sunflowers seeds. Norio knows he enjoys sleeping with us in the bedroom. However, ever since Bonkers died last August, Norio has slept downstairs. Naomi recently found a way to keep him upstairs at night that didn't involve shutting the door - ground matatabi power (which is related, sort of, to catnip). It makes him happy and relaxes and he spends the night on a box next to the bed.
I didn‘t know much about Fujinon lenses when I first heard about the EX (high end) enlarging lens series, but after I read some enthusiastic endorsements and saw a couple of great sample shots I was certainly intrigued. That said, it was quite some time after this moment, when I found one at a somewhat reasonable price, because it seems like they aren‘t available in large quantities. I think they are among the best enlarging lenses out there and thankfully easy to adapt as well. I don‘t remember if there is any longer focal length but I have got them in 50, 75, 90, 105 and 135 mm (the latter being a lot bigger and in my estimation heavier than all others combined...).
The two large-format lenses are a „Fujinon-SWD 65 mm F 5.6“ and a „Fujinon-W 135 mm F 5.6“ and they are absolutely brilliant lenses as well from my limited experience: Wonderfully sharp with good contrast, colors and seemingly very good from close-up to infinity!
Fuji has certainly gained my trust when it comes to lenses as they really seem to be consistently good as far as I can tell.

You never know who you're going to meet, or where you going to meet them. Like, you can meet a guy like Weasel, a local rap artist, in the parking lot of Party City, like last year. And he could hit you up on Instagram and say "Let's get together and shoot some more pictures from my promotion." And you say "Why not? Love to try something new for me." And then you really like how it turns out, and you want to do some more in the near future.
I mean, it COULD happen that way. I'm not necessarily saying it DID.
So you know how BluRay's have the slipcovers? Well i made one for "Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure" I have to admit, i am extremely proud of this!! I really love how the coloring and worked out for the background and how everything just turned out in general. PLEASE comment. I would love to hear about what you guys think of my first Slipcover.
Does anyone happen to know what kind of plant this is? It really caught my eye, with all its white spots. Note: thanks so much to Plantaholic Sheila for the ID! She has an amazing photostream for anyone interested in plants around the world. Apparently (thanks Google), this species was first discovered in 1982 in Brazil by an unnamed Italian researcher.
This evening, 6 August 2022, I am adding a final five photos taken on 28 July 2022. On that day, I went for a drive out of the city. Having stayed home for the previous eight days because of an extremely painful infected tooth, I just needed to get out for a few hours. It got up to 33C when I was out that day. For some reason, my tooth and jaw became almost as painful as at the beginning. Two weeks of this pain has been more than enough, and I got a root canal in the afternoon on 3 August! Have to get it finished in a week's time. I most definitely did not enjoy my appointment on 3 August! It was a complicated root canal, as part of the gum had grown into a cavity in the tooth. Fortunately, my dentist is also a Dental Surgeon and he really wanted to save the tooth. He told me that I must have broken the record for how many instruments he needed to use in my mouth. Now I am into the third week of not being able to eat on that side of my mouth - thank goodness for endless (bought) soups.
My trip on 28 July started with a visit to the Saskatoon Farm for a late breakfast. I knew that the Farm was going to get busier than ever and I wanted to take a few bright, colourful photos while I had the chance. Every time I go to the Farm, new things have been added. Hard-working, creative owners and staff! Everyone is so friendly there.
From the Farm, I drove further south-east and quickly checked out Frank Lake and area. It was too hot for me to do more than a very short walk just as far as the American Pelicans. Driving a back road or two, I only saw a few small birds. Maybe it was just too hot for them. I did see a Yellow-headed Blackbird at the lake, standing on a rock with its wings slightly open and its beak open, in order to cool down a little. I was also very happy to see a beautiful adult, dark morph Swainson's Hawk perched on a fence railing along one of the roads.

Thirteen things you probably didn't know about me:
- I've pretty much always detested school, or most aspects of it. When I was around 10 I begged my parents to home school me. I'm glad they said no.
- I do not do mornings. My perfect sleeping hours are from 4am - 12pm. I think I've been on time to school about 3 times so far this school year.
- I am very very verrryy shy. I just don't talk to people I'm not 100% comfortable with. The internet gives me a sort of barrier for that. It may seem that it's a tool for me to be someone else with but really it lets me absolutely be me. If that makes sense.
- I have a collosal fear of crustaceans. I don't know how or when it developed but even thinking about lobsters makes me shudder.
- I'm addicted to Yahoo Answers
- I have OCD. When I was about 12 it got really bad and made me do stuff I'll probably never tell anyone about. Nowadays it barely effects me - I just have a numbers thing..when I'm walking or sitting with people I like to be in the middle and with things like volumes they have to be on an even number. I also don't like stuff that doesn't match.
- A few years ago I desperately wanted to be an actress. I thought it was the only thing I'd ever want to do. Now I think I'd hate it.
- I'm still awaiting my first kiss
- I have around 14 nieces and nephews and 2 great nieces.
- My initials are G.I.R.L
- On every 1st of the month I pinch myself because I once heard it brings you luck for the month.
- The only food that causes me to gain any weight is cheese.
- I can't stop watching Hannah Montana. I hate it. It's absolute poo and not funny but I can't. stop. watching!

i know the quality on these isn't very good, and the poses needed were a little awkward. it's for a friend that's going to make them into some paintings, so his ideas were a little hard to interpret. it was my first shoot w/ a person and i'm not used to artificial lighting! lamps are NO good i need the sun :( but i did the best i could and am still learning. she's not a professional model either so i had to coach her through all the shots.
imagine that the stuffed cow is really a tiger's head. she's supposed to be petting it. i don't know.

Norio knows how comfortable his nest is. Looking at older pictures, I realized he always favored this blanket, which probably explains why he still does - it has his odor and is soft and warm.
I know -- crappy crop...but it wasn't easy to shoot over the heads of 16 gazillion Japanese people crammed on the narrow sidewalk. Despite how she looks here, this girl isn't handicapped mentally or physically -- just a touch of heat stroke, I think.

On Saturday 25 May, University College London (UCL) students called on the support of other students and supporters across London to rally outside their Gaza pro-ceasefire encampment after the announcement that a pro-Israel rally would take place outside their main gate that afternoon.
One of the most frequently heard chants by students on this and other days was
"Disclose, Divest,
We will not stop,
We will not rest."
Among the crowd there were many students from the neighbouring School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) where an encampment had already been established about two weeks earlier.
SOAS students earlier published a list of demands including, according to two metre high placard at their encampment -
1. Disclose - Full details of all university investments
2. Divest - from companies complicit in Israel's denial of Palestinian rights - [a list of specific companies followed which included Barclays Bank, Alphabet (Google/Alphabet) and Microsoft.]
3. Terminate - the university's banking and lending arrangement with Barclays
4. Boycott - Israeli academic institutions which are complicit in the violation of Palestinian human rights, including the University of Haifa
5. Commit - to supporting Palestinian education and the rebuilding of Gaza's Schools and Hospitals. Establish partnerships and exchanges with Palestinian institutions and academics. Increase scholarships for Palestinian students. Advocate for removal of restrictions for pro-Palestinian expression.
6. Guarantee - the right of students and staff to express solidarity with the Palestinian struggle for liberation including in research, speech and actions.
7. Advocate - for the UK government to implement an arms embargo on Israel, to call for an immediate, unconditional and permanent ceasefire.
As of the date of posting (4 June 2024) at least 36,932 Palestinians have been killed since 7 October, including more than 15,000 children. An estimated 10,000 are missing, of whom most are probably dead. An unknown number of additional deaths due to excess mortality from food shortages, disease and difficulties in obtaining essential medical care and medicines. More than 82,000 Palestinians have been injured, many of them with life-changing injuries including many amputations. According to the United Nations, as of 2 June, more than half of all residential buildings have been destroyed or damaged but with some key infrastructure the destruction is even more devastating - including 80% of commercial facilities and 86% of school buildings damaged or destroyed. Additionally some 83% of groundwater wells are no longer operational.
