took lot of hits but as the IJN Kirishima took advantage of the South Dakotas power outage which blinded her radar the Kirishima wasn't ready as the USS Washington crept up on her, than slammed her with accurate broadsides that ripped the Kirishima apart... South Dakota famously protected the vital USS Enterprise against an air attack that saw her crew shoot down over 26 Japanese aircraft...
While serving with the US army in Vietnam, I took my week of R & R (Rest & Recreation) in Japan, departing from Danang Airbase on Thanksgiving day. While in Japan, I took the train south from Tokyo to Kagoshima City, on Kyushu Island near the southern tip of the country, where I visited an American family. My host took me for a visit to Kirishima National Park in Kyushu Province, which contains several hot springs. Kirishima National Park

Originally built around 800 years ago during the Muromachi period, it was soon discovered after a series of eruptions and reconstructions that the shrine was located rather too close to the local volcano. It was subsequently moved and rebuilt on its current location in 1715. Jingū, as opposed to the more common jinja, are rare, high-ranking shrines with connections to the Imperial House of Japan.

Kirishima Shrine in Miyazaki prefecture, close to Miyakonojo. Kirishima was the most amazing shrine I saw in Japan, because of many things, location, space, nature, few people, and it's really big.

From the Tarumizu miti-no-eki you can get a good view of the side crater that grew out of the main crater on the south peak. Occasionally, puffs of ash would be belched into the air.

They're all basically the same ship with different "special" design, based on a partner game. They're level V out of X but pretty good ships. They are faster and shoot farther than their German counterparts, but less well armored.
This falls is right on the road and makes stopping and viewing easy. The slanting basalt gives the water an interesting twist.
This is about my favorite waterfall in Kyushu for its 45° twist, reddish stone, and green moss.
