Journal page with stencils. The underpainting was done with spray paint and the top stencils (hibiscus, tree, numbers) were done by sponging acrylic paint through a stencil. The orange hibiscus is a photograph stapled to the page edge to act as a tab.

journal page - Telling the Bees

Satin stitching over Aida cloth is a little tricky. The cut ends of the threads keep wanting to poke out! However, after three passes of the sewing machine and lots of Sulky thread, I think I've got it under control. The journal cover features Swedish weaving and an abalone composite button made in the Philippines.
