Here are the second two pages of the journal. The first page here I painted blue and drew in the turtle to represent the element of water. The last page I sketched. The image I sketched is Celtic and means (or represents) Infinity.
A small journal I made with mat board covered with polymer clay and embellished with polymer clay beads, copper wire and leather.
When my grandmother went on trips, she always kept a journal. I'm playing with shallow depth of field (since I have a f1.8 lens).

On thanksgiving we went up to our families cabin in the woods and while we were there my cousin and I did riding on our ATV. We did a lot of journal wrecking and one of the things we did was tie the journal to the ATV and dragged as we drove.
This is what the journal looked like after wards. It got all scratched up and came apart.
John Crittenden hosted a staff reunion shortly after the Journal's 16th anniversary. Can you believe this year is the paper's 20th anniversary? It's now owned by ANG, along with the Times-Star and Oakland Tribune. Ironic, no? (also in blue), Joe, Brad, Cliff, Jim and Woody. By this time Jim had left the AJ to open his own paper, the Alameda Sun, which he is no longer affiliated with. It's still limping along, as far as I know.
The journaling says "Today I'm exploring the letter T; there are so many ways to portray a letter - that might be a good idea for a collage series."
Watercolor, tissue layering, collage papers, a touch of zentangle, homemade circle stamp (used bunion pads!) and my fave Inktense pencils.
I have FINALLY found the journal I love! I found fantastic paper for dry AND wet media, cut it down, and had the whole thing re-bound. The cover's a combination of a magazine picture, pain, rub ons, gel pens, a stamp, and loose, quirky handwritting

I used some of the giant leaves to make my background for my journal page. These leaves were great fun.

Journalling reads: Having kids means there are always going to be lots of firsts to remember. Some of them seem really important when they happen but then the memory kind of fades and gets forgotten - like your first word. But then there are the things that seem unimportant in the grand scheme of things, yet the memory sticks with you. This is a perfect example of that. It’s not very often that we get to see snow here. So when you woke up to see the garden filled with it, obviously you were excited. We raced around the house searching for gloves and hats and scarfs to stay warm. One of the many things that you wanted to do, was build a snowman but you don’t really have enough patience for that so we decided to build a tiny snowbaby instead. You and Daddy worked hard on it together, while I took photos. I will never forget the look of pride on your face as you finished it. But within a few seconds of him being done you baffled me by kicking his head off and laughing at the snowstorm you created. I was confused at first but after thinking about it I realised, sometimes just having the chance to do something and the actual process of doing it are much more important than the finished result, you just have to enjoy them while they last! 6th April 08.
La vie ayant décidé de priver le Rat de spéléo en ce début d'année, les soirées et weekends auront été occupés graphiquement avec la reprise d'un gros projet plutôt chronophage qui me suivait depuis des années. Il s'agit d'un carnet grimoire à la japonaise, c'est à dire qu'il est constitué d'une seule page repliée sur elle même de nombreuses fois, entre chaque plis j'ai intégré une page noir et blanc dont le but est de protéger les pages du livre de leurs pigments respectifs tout en racontant aussi des instants du passé. Le carnet raconte une histoire souterraine à ma manière mêlant croquis de bons souvenirs et dessins aux crayons de couleurs sur papier noir.
