Two long exposures from a parking garage overlooking Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey. The PATH Plaza building on the left looks on in envy at the still-being-constructed Journal Squared residential tower. Manhattan can be seen in the background to the right.
Minolta Autocord, Rokkor 75mm f3.5, Kodak Ektar 100. Fifteen second exposure at f11.
Journal made with cotton yarn, leather, handmade polymer clay buttons and contains drawing paper and some vintage ephemera.

This is a Nature Journal for summer poems, diary entries, or random thoughts. The artwork was inspired by artsy T's project, "Littlest Birds Sing The Prettiest Songs." I used this project at a summer literacy institute for teachers and they loved it! Thanks for the inspiration...

Flowish journal filled with papers and other ephemera for a tree-themed swap with Cynthia A. I got that wonderful wallpaper that is on the cover from MECCA in Eugene. It's bound with signatures looped in kind of like a Midori Travellers Journal.

The story behind this book is that the covers are made from a one-of-a-kind handmade print I made using real Japanese maple leaves that I printed on a gelatin plate (yes, like Jello!). This is also the way that field biologists used to make prints of plants they found while traveling, albeit in more natural colors.
I traveled to Asheville, North Carolina to take a class on gelatin printmaking with the very talented Holly Fouts where we bound our favorite prints into books. We had lots and lots of extra paper left over though, and I took one look at the paper and thought it would make great book covers! I'm so glad to give my printmaking prints new life as this colorful journal.
