The cover of my craft journal, where I document my projects. I stamped the title part and then used Mod Podge to attach all of the paper pieces to the binder. The binder is a simple, cheap 3-ring, 8.5-11 binder that I had around the house.
Mixed media 9" x 12"

I'm up to Chapter 7 in our Sketching in Nature book-- the one about using watercolor as a sketching medium. So for the first time I left the pen and ink at home and sketched directly with watercolor pencils and added water to blend on the spot. Luckily the temp shot up to a balmy 35 degrees and I had a little more time than usual to work.
Two long exposures from a parking garage overlooking Journal Square in Jersey City, New Jersey. The PATH Plaza building on the left looks on in envy at the still-being-constructed Journal Squared residential tower. Manhattan can be seen in the background to the right.
Minolta Autocord, Rokkor 75mm f3.5, Kodak Ektar 100. Fifteen second exposure at f11.
Journal made with cotton yarn, leather, handmade polymer clay buttons and contains drawing paper and some vintage ephemera.

This is a Nature Journal for summer poems, diary entries, or random thoughts. The artwork was inspired by artsy T's project, "Littlest Birds Sing The Prettiest Songs." I used this project at a summer literacy institute for teachers and they loved it! Thanks for the inspiration...

Even in the dead of winter, fresh fruit is available. I love the global economy!

The first step into wrecking my journal. It went with a satisfying crack. I decided to journal about it on the page too.
fabric journal - inside back cover
this is a journal that i made during the sue bleiweiss online journal class, week one.
I am on the brink of an amazing holiday.
This will involve train journeys across Europe, starting in Poland and encompassing Germany and Belgium.
The occasion is a celebration of 50 years of friendship and my friend Judith and I are fulfilling a life long ambition to visit Berlin.
As young Civil Servants together in London in the 1960's we were not allowed to go to Berlin, but could travel around the rest of Germany, which we did..
So........we are going to Berlin now, just because we can.
A holiday of a lifetime.
This the start of my holiday journal and I have made it from various weights of paper with a cover made from watercolour paper. I have dyed this with teabags and used stencils and printing blocks for decoration.
I do hope that Judith doesn't object to the term "Old biddies".
We shall see.
Trouvé durant la numérisation d'un tome de l'Illustration datant de 1858.
Je suppose que la coupure est beaucoup plus récente, mais j'ignore de quand et par quel journal.
(Var matin?)
New page in my journal. Not too thrilled with the pea green color. The base is a library card. Gesso, acrylic paints, hand painted deli and dictionary papers, markers.
Check my blog for more details about how I turned old books into themed sketchbooks.
I blogged this at janallsopp.blogspot.com/2006/08/in-search-of-perfect-jour...
This little journal was created with winter in mind - the cover is white with pearlescent floral decoration, and the spine heavyweight silver paper. The decoration on the front came from an old botany book, and I made a photocopy and then did a tape transfer to stick the image on the cover. The Endpapers are hand-marbled by me in blues, greens and yellows.
