Do you remember your mother or your grandmother telling you not to color in your Bible?! That's no more. This is my journaling Bible cover, supply pouch and water bottle. The cover and pouch is from The Pokey Rose on Instagram and the water bottle is from Hobby Lobby. It all sits in front of my grandmother's parlor sofa. I love to journal our church's sermons. I get more from the scripture from the sermons by journaling it and if I didn't get something from the sermon's, I take something from the worship. I like to use the Illustrated Faith products from our Lifeway Store and follow the Illustrated Faith Instragram account for ideas. I love flipping to these pages in church over and over.

Le Festival international de jazz de Montréal (abrégé en FIJM) est un festival de jazz qui se déroule annuellement au mois de juillet à Montréal depuis 1980. Selon l'édition 2004 du Guide des records, il est le plus important festival de jazz du monde1. Chaque année, le Festival présente quelque 3 000 artistes venant de plus de 30 pays différents, organise environ 650 concerts (dont 450 se déroulent à ciel ouvert) et attire plus de 2,5 millions de spectateurs.
La formule du festival est centrée sur deux types de concert : gratuit (à ciel ouvert) et payant (en salle). Le premier type permet à différents artistes de se faire connaître, tout comme au public d'apprivoiser ceux-ci. Le deuxième type est souvent offert aux artistes les plus réputés ou les plus prometteurs. De grands musiciens préfèrent parfois se produire à l'extérieur pour le plaisir de jouer devant de grandes foules.
Au fil des années, le festival a ajouté des activités périphériques pour attirer de plus en plus de spectateurs : le Grand évènement (sorte de grand-messe musicale), Parc musical pour enfants, Petite école du jazz (école d'initiation au jazz pour enfants), une galerie d'art (exposant les œuvres visuelles d'artistes de jazz), Radio-Jazz (une éphémère station de radio) et Jazz à l'année (série de concerts de jazz donné en dehors de l'horaire du festival).
En 2004, le festival se targue d'offrir 500 concerts, d'accueillir plus de 2 000 musiciens et d'accueillir près de 2 millions de spectateurs. Les spectacles sont résumés dans un catalogue gratuitement distribué par le festival, lesquels sont enregistrés et disponibles sur CD et DVD.
Ce festival a, entre autres, accueilli Paul Bley, Dave Brubeck, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Alain Caron, Chick Corea, Jamie Cullum, Miles Davis, Ella Fitzgerald, Keith Jarrett, Dizzy Gillespie, Stéphane Grappelli, Antônio Carlos Jobim, Oliver Jones, Diana Krall, Oscar Peterson, Wynton Marsalis, Pat Metheny, Youssou N'Dour, João Gilberto, Sonny Rollins, Paul Simon, Wayne Shorter, UZEB, The Bad Plus, Susie Arioli, Esbjorn Svensson, Bob Dylan, Stevie Wonder et Prince.
Alain Simard, André Ménard et Denyse McCann ont créé ce festival dans le but d'attirer les touristes venant des États-Unis à Montréal. Au départ, leur projet est vu comme celui d'utopistes, car il ferait compétition à différents festivals déjà courus et bien établis : le Festival de Jazz de Montreux et le Newport Jazz Festival, entre autres.
La première édition de 1979 avorte, faute de fonds. Simard parvient pourtant à présenter quelques spectacles, dont ceux de Keith Jarrett et de Pat Metheny. L'année d'après, grâce au concours d'un animateur de la radio de CBC, Alain De Grosbois, et à la vente d'enregistrements télé à Télé-Québec, le festival voit vraiment le jour.
À sa troisième édition, il est perçu comme un évènement culturellement important et obtient des commandites pour la première fois. À sa cinquième édition, il est, semble-t-il, déjà vu comme un des meilleurs festivals de jazz du monde par plusieurs critiques et journalistes.
En 1987, il survit à une crise financière en obtenant l'appui d'importants partenaires : Alcan et la ville de Montréal. En 1989, il s'établit définitivement autour de la Place des Arts et du Complexe Desjardins. La sollicitation commerciale (par exemple, kiosques de souvenirs) est interdite dans le périmètre réservé.
En 2009,à l'occasion du 30e édition du Festival, l'événement se déploie sur la nouvelle Place des festivals, située à l'ouest de la Place des Arts. Le premier concert qui y est organisé est celui de Stevie Wonder qui rencontra un vif succès. La même année est inaugurée la toute nouvelle Maison du Festival de Jazz avec un concert d'Oliver Jones.

The festival takes place at 10 free outdoor stages and 10 indoor concert halls.
A major part of the city's downtown core is closed to traffic for ten days, as free outdoor shows are open to the public and held on many stages at the same time, from noon until midnight. Attendance at some shows is over 100,000 people, and occasionally exceeds 200,000.[citation needed] Shows are held in a wide variety of venues, from relatively small jazz clubs to the large concert halls of Place des Arts. Some of the outdoor shows are held on the cordoned-off streets, while others are in terraced parks.

Made some HeART art in my scrap journal. I think the theme will be HeART for this journal. Seems to be the path I'm taking.
This was made on one of the huge tags: acrylic paints mixed with a baby wipe, stencils and spray mists (I totally messed up and needed to cover some of it), handmade paper, Caran D'ache crayons (I love how they can be rubbed...), Staz-On inks. Fibers will be added at a later date.

We had to move house a year ago and it's taken me this long to begin journaling again! Sad. I can't find my old art journal either...really sad! So I'm starting again, trying to find my style again.
This started out as an embroidery piece with rows of machine stitching & couched yarns. It was cut into squares and re assembled. The blue rectangle was applied after - it's made of friendly plastic & tangle tuft.
I'm aiming at doing 2 journals each month, so that's it for April.
I got mine few months ago, "I will start using the journal soon" I tell myself everyday, today I just started and the hardest thing was to stop myself from working in every page! I can't wait tomorrow for more wrecking.

super soft upcycled light tan leather Elf journal with matching leather closure attached with a brass stud & a square brass bead on end
hand stamped images on front (source unknown). inside cover & first page (gumbo graphics) with archival coffee ink.
longstitch sewn with dark brown Irish waxed linen thread.
all pages are Natura Text Ash acid free 104gsm that have been hand torn & sprayed with an archival coffee mix.
