This is a journal cover I made featuring an image of the Eiffel Tower. This is something I woke up with in my head, and I had so much fun pulling odds and ends out of my stash to make it! It has a pocket in the front cover to hold your pen, a ribbon bookmark, and it latches with a jewlry clasp. It covers a regular composition notebook.
I'd love to be able to journal on location when we are on holiday. So I'm practicing in the garden, giving myself 30 minutes for a page, and using a limited palette and a waterbrush. The text was added later on.
Journal of my French Big Earrabbit...in inkpen.
She don't wanna be by the other rabbits. But insteat she must be entertain the whole day. From kitchen to grazing to the racecircuit...and then after a whole day...sleeping in a new fresh cache nearby my bed. Good nicht my big Saquana.
That is really my eye! Along with part of a Japanese customs form I snagged at work, some experimental turpentine paper, a wild turkey feather and a "perishable" rubber stamp I rescued from the trash at work.

August calendar completed. I have always loved how "touching" each and every day makes time feel like it slows down some and the month feels like it lasted longer.
Text: Our English bull terrier Pickle died yesterday, gently sent to sleep by her vet. Though she was often stubborn and frustrating (as bull terriers are) and her health was poor for most of her life, she was a beautiful dog who loved everyone and brought a smile to anyone who met her. I'll miss you, Pickle.

Art journal page.
Background was created with music sheet that was water-colored with Paynes Grey then torn into strips and adhered.
Various coordinating papers, vellum, and other embellishments layered as shown.
These backgrounds were done in the White Book, my daily journal with gouache, a sponge and some stencils. Blogged: caatjesartsystuff.blogspot.nl/2013/10/backgrounds-in-whit...
I decided to use my vintage typewriter to type out day twos' prompt, My Journal Goals!
Love how the vintage paper and typed text goes with the sticker from the journals I bought from Elsie (Red Velvet)!
NY Times journalist collaborated with with Cindy Kane for "Eyes on the Ground - Journals of War" art display in Flatiron Prow Art Space on 5th Ave, NYC. The artist Cindy Kane collected reporting notes, credentials and other mementos from Times reporters and editors for an exhibit that provides an intimate glimpse into life as a war reporter. The artist then collaged the collected materials onto bullet-pocked, Vietnam-era steel helmets. The helmets are meant to dramatize the connection between journalists and soldiers
This is another piece from the "tracings" series. For example, the boy in front of the window came from a vintage Mother Goose book, the two women in the lower left-hand corner were originally from a 1950s women's magazine, and the rows of squares in the upper left are from a paint-chip sheet.
Decided to start journalling some time ago, and I chose to use Midori's inserts for this since I totally love the size, not too small yet not too big, can fit into my bag nicely. Handmade myself the leather cover when I was down with flu (T _ T)" Totally not OK with the flu, but very happy with the leather journal cover final looks.. it has pockets!! ♡♡
Turns out to be enjoying this very much. It's fun to look back and see what I've been doing, re-read the small notes from the daily entry ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

Inspired by two subjects - rust and music.
One of my favourite bands is Type O Negative and I adore Wolf Moon from the October Rust album. A gorgeous man with a deep sexy voice singing about that time of the month, mmm! ;)
So, this is a blood red page with a music background over some of which I've written some of the lyrics. The vertical lines and vine on the right page borrow from the album cover, green stems with thorns. Moon, rusty metal found objects, blood drips and period dates. Perfect timing for this page to be born!
What I used to do if I needed a creative outlet, or if I couldn't think of anything to write. I never have the inspiration or the time for this kind of thing anymore but I look back through my journals and I'm always pleasantly surprised when I turn the page and see all these lovely colours!
My latest Hobonichi order arrived yesterday. I now have a cute A6 Techo to keep my Cousin company :)
The postcard in the second picture (cute scatter love set from fatmumslim) is so true. I know planner/journal enthusiasts will all understand ;D
