I had a vision last night. It involved a bus, tons of lumber, metal, welding, paint, and a LARGE CARGO area called a flight deck. Yes...I WANT TO BUILD AN AIRCRAFT CARRIER ART CAR FOR 2013.
"Join the artist Anna Dumitriu to learn about the bacteria in our everyday environment from the normal flora microbes that co-exist with us in our homes, the 'field marks' that can be observed around us (such as in ponds and streams or on the facades of buildings) and the beneficial bacteria, moulds and yeasts that help create some of the foods we love (cheese and other fermented products).
We will also do our own microbiology experiments, look at foods under the microscope and use supermarket supplies to make DIY culture media to create bacterial textile artworks (which will stay exhibited in the laboratory Bio Tehna). We’ll discuss how antibiotics work and learn to make our own self-sustaining bacterial eco-systems, known as Winogradsky Columns – they make great pets and need no looking after!

Your Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce new member, My Favorite Things of Leesville, located at 102 East Texas Street in Leesville will host their Grand Opening celebration this upcoming Tuesday, April 20th from 11 am until 1 pm. A Vernon Parish Chamber of Commerce Ribbon Cutting ceremony will be held at 12 noon.
Owner of My Favorite Things, Cathy Sage originally came to Vernon Parish as a military spouse. Sage, now a permanent resident, is proud to offer many unique items in her inventory. From handmade polish pottery and gift items with military unit crests upon them and a collection of original artwork by both local and Louisiana artists, My Favorite Things of Leesville strives to provide gifts items not found in other area shops.
