Not really spectacular, but a nice to have. And perfectly placed for photography.

Looking tidy but in long term storage with doubts whether it'll fly again...

Doing its best not to become an amphibian, the first daily flight to Osijek (OSI/LDOS) - operated by AIS Airlines on behalf of local carrier Trade Air - trudges through the rain towards RWY 05. Nowadays quite a rare sight - even though it is one of the more successful British passenger designs - the Jetstream family can trace its roots back to the 1960s Handley-Page HP.137, a light (but loud!) 18-seater that had made its name with a long and distinguished career with the Royal Navy. Equipped with Garrett TPE331 engines instead of the visually- and aurally-distinctive Turbomeca Astzaous of the original, the Jetstream is a real hot-rod, and can even outrun the odd large transport turboprop.

An interesting detail is the baggage pod; while the original design had included enough space for a reasonable amount of baggage (stowed in the rear fuselage), the addition of a toilet later in the production run had drastically reduced that capacity - requiring a solution most often seen on piston and turboprop singles.

Jetstream 41 G-MAJK taxies past at Manchester with the VOR station visible behind. In British Airways house colours, it was actually operated on their behalf by British Regional Airlines, owned by Michael Bishop of British Midland fame.

Surprisingly, as of 2022, G-MAJK still flies as such, but for Eastern Airways.

The two modified Jetstream 41s operated by the Hong Kong Government Flying Service (GFS) were replaced by two Bombardier Challenger 600s.

In addition, they also operate a single Diamond DA42 Twin Star that rounds out their fixed wing fleet.

Designed by Handley Page Ltd., launch customer for this military version of the Jetstream 'feeder-liner' was the US Air Force.

Destined to be the C-10A in USAF service, the contract fell through and HP failed soon after but Scottish Aviation Ltd , based up at Prestwick stepped in and took over the production line.

Introduced as a basic navigation trainer both the Royal Air Force and Royal Navy - both services operated them out of RAF Finningley and NAS Culdrose respectively.

In their final years, some of the Navy machines became VIP transports with RNAS Yeovilton's Station Flight before both users replaced them with versions of the ubiquitous Beechcraft King Air.

Jetstream T.1 XX496 was one of 26 aircraft ordered from Scottish Aviation Ltd at Prestwick for multi-engined pilot training in the RAF. This aircraft, in No. 45 Squadron markings, notched up 11,368 flying hours and made 32,567 landings before its final to the RAF Museum, Cosford, in March 2004.
