Bought a faux-leather jacket at Target. Important details that I was looking for: No lapels, a relatively high collar, and not too long - just to the top of the hip.
Part of the "Sometimes you want to be a peacock" collection that I did in the spring of 2007 when I studied pattern construction at Tillskärarakademin in Göteborg.
My biggest inspiration came from an image of a Tiffany glass window with a peacock. The collection is all about color, glamor and being proud of yourself.

For the muslin, I felt confident enough of the lekala fit to go straight to an inexpensive, but nice fleece. Here's the front view, on me, and partially unzipped. Not the greatest photo, but gives an idea of where the jacket hits at the top of the thigh. Another lekala winner. No adjustments made to the pattern.
This little Lap jacket is a new design that I plan to make for adults as well as for children. First up, this one was made from a super soft wool sweater that I felted and re-purposed. The binding is a cotton stripe jersy knit. I used three different colored pearl snaps for the front closure (and there's a hidden snap on the inside to keep the jacket closed nicely.

Hmm, I was a little disappointed at first because I thought this made me look like a flamingo upon first wearing, but it's growing on me. :) I decided to use Garnstudio Muskat as it seems to work as a good substitute for kamicha's Twinkle Cruise knits. I think it came out all right, though Cruise is probably drapier because my crochet bottom doesn't seem as drapey as the one worn by the model in the book. I am not very good at crochet, so the crochet edging was definitely a challenge for me! (Also, it's really freaking hard to crochet three stands with a G 4 mm hook...lol...) I ended up omitting the last row of the crochet entirely. BTW, the book I'm holding is Kim Hargreave's Thrown Together. Going to knit Hannah from it next!

you can see the dart shaping clearly in this photo - this was taken before I sewed the buttons on - then I went back to the pattern and saw they were supposed to be set quite close together.
I spent about two weeks to design and finish the jacket for the GF1. Now it has the fit - rugged - classic - button looks that I have always wanted to have on the cam.
Always, try to finish to what you have started. Patience is a virtue. Satisfaction is mine :-)

I was called a "radio biker" once, since I wear a leather jacket and carry a Motorola Saber radio in the pocket...
Simplicity 4032 size 10 in brown anti-pill fleece from Joann's. Next version will be one size bigger and I need to add a good inch to the sleeves. While this fits, it is snug and I could only wear something lightweight under it and the sleeves have a small 1/4" hem. Finished 10/12 Also my machine did not like making buttonholes on this material and they are a mess.
Hip-length jacket with a notch collar, two piece sleeve, darted front and shaped side back. Slightly extended shoulder line. Fitted lines but not tight-fitting best describes this popular jacket. Sophisticated and tailored looking.
