Love the simple yet elegant shape of this design from Ivete Tecedor. Adapted the original pattern slightly to incorporate moss stitch borders and cuffs, plus a gradually extending moss stitch triangle from shoulder points to centre. Definitely one I'll make again.
I personally, cannot wear a plain jean jacket. It's like owning a blank canvas or an unwritten page. I got the jacket at Value Village for $6. Still adding pins as I find them.
A tutorial set demonstrating the reproduction of the jacket featured in _Costume Close-up_, from pattern to full-scale product. The jacket is constructed using the original as the guiding document; period stitches and construction techniques are used throughout.

Here are the two dolls in their sparrow jackets. They are incredibly difficult to photograph together now so I had to contain them in the wagon!
Thank you to everyone for all the kind comments about these jackets when I posted them a while ago. It is so encouraging, I haven't been sewing for long and it's such a boost to have such accomplished seamstresses say such kind things.
I have worked on this jacket in the spring of 2008, and it took me a little while to finish it. There's is also a cable that goes onto the color, but I think I like it also without it. As of the yarn, it was not the best choice, since the jacket is rather heavy now and it stretched more than I anticipated. Still need to add buttons.
You can read more about this and other designs of mine on my blog www.StylishKnits.blogspot.com and buy some of my patterns on www.SimonasDesigns.etsy.com.

Intention fraying from a pair of Luscious brand jeans preserved in a symmetric pattern. Collar is stitched down. Inside seams finished with a selection of vintage trim scraps and skull/crossbone ribbon.
Pattern: Bed Jacket from Knitting Lingerie Style
Designer: Joan McGowan-Michael
Yarn: Knit Picks Wool of the Andes from stash (long time in the stash, actually)
12 skeins in color Tan
Needles: Size 10 Addi Turbo and Size G crochet hook
Started: June 2007
Finished: June 12, 2008
Recipient: Me
Mods: I left off the chain stitch embroidery because (1) I was lazy and (2) didn't think it really needed it. I knit the rest to the book. Overall, I like it, but alas, into storage it goes until the Fall b/c it is too dang hot for wool right now in Jersey. As I also said before, read the directions first, especially if you hate finishing. There is a lot of finishing work on this one, but I think it is elegant and well-worth the effort.

South’s Landis Jacket 1972 From Doris, Joan and MH Freeze. Kathy Morgan made the effort to get the year book to Shane K Smith 20150125. This is an amazing accomplishment. Shane has scanned all three Junior High School years on both sides of South from 1970, 1971 and 1972. That was the Landis side and the China Grove side. He has also scanned The South Rowan 1973, 1974 and 1975 Year books courtesy @Tim Smith and Shane Smith. Keith Belk provided Landis 1970 and 1971 If there is another annual out there that fed South Rowan High School please inform Shane and he will try to find one and scan it. Shane has even scanned a couple Catawba College yearbooks for our South friends of Tim Smith that went on to Catawba.
Shane has 28 albums scanned saved and titled here of our more famous friends have grown: www.flickr.com/photos/shanesflyingdiscshow/collections/72.... Shane has received over 40,000 views as of 20150125.
The idea was a brainstorm of Shane’s to capture a then and now atmosphere for The Class of 1975. That would include Junior High annuals from 1970, 1971 and 1972. Then South annuals from 1973, 1974 and our Graduation for 1975. Beyond that Shane has followed hundreds of our friends and updated Now photos. Shane has noticed that although I have 100’s of our friends documented there are still hundreds of our friends no where to be found. If you know of any person we went to school with that has a current photo of them from anywhere that I have missed please get that photo to me!
Facebook will only let me put 1,000 photos in each album. Plus they won’t sort the albums in any order. So you can get lost looking for photos in the Facebook album section from Shane. So I built a Flickr account. Most of my photos are titled which was no small feat. You will have to create an account to view, but so what. It
S free and you get one TB TERA BYTE of photos you can store in full resolution. You can have prints made from my pages. You can search for your old heart breaking friend. I will continue to add those that have supported me in friendship and I add those that hate me. However the biggest challenge now is to find those that haven’t made it to computer land yet. My posts will be less frequent concerning South as I have two file cabinets full of Shane’s Flying Disc Show PR and Newspaper clippings, routes and notes for another great set of friends that traveled the Country inspiring adults and Youth to be active and throw Frisbees! You can find some of my Frisbee Flying Disc Pioneering here: www.flickr.com/photos/shanesflyingdiscshow/collections/72.... I will be interrupting posts from time to time with every day shots and events and have a goal to own a Fifth Wheel Camper for my Truck. My life’s rhythm could be changing.
This was, among other things, my "test" of the upper-bodice portion of the pattern for my Springy Coat. Now I just need to work out the sleeves, collar, and skirt portion...

MGS: PO jacket. Made by North End it's actually a HIGH quality wind/water proof soft shell jacket. I got this off ebay from someone at Konami, CA. New with tags, one of my nicest rarest items I got for a fraction of what it should've gone for on ebay. WAY nicer than the picture shows. I may frame it!
