The weather has been all over the map today - cool, hot, sunny, rainy, windy and all the in betweens too.
But it has been a good day - a relaxing morning then my friend Michael and I went to the Riverdale Art Walk to check out a whole whack of wonderful artists. Inspiring for me to get my butt in gear with more of my own work projects. But I also wish I had lots of money and wall space to buy a bunch of the work I saw there.
Afterwards, we had lunch in Chinatown and coffee in Kensington Market.
Then parted ways - I got my errands done for the afternoon and will relax for a bit before working on some lentil soup as well as baking up some banana muffins.
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

And no that is not Dirk! He's not a dirty duck! ;p

Just one more day of work and then I have Friday off to go to the Creative Festival with my grrlfriend Shelna. It used to be called the Creative Sewing and Needlework Show and she and I have made it a tradition to go for *many* years!
Then Saturday morning I ship out on the train to Montreal to meet up with the Joann-ster and I'll have my first chance to meet my Saskatchewanarama grrlie Liz - whoooo hooooo! Can't wait!
I then come back Monday night ... let's hope tomorrow at work goes by smoothly and quickly!

Ready for our dinner date with Liz .... silly me though, I didn't get a photo of her. Too caught up in the excitement of a first meeting. But luckily she took some pics of us together.
Had a wonderful time my dear! Especially being a bad influence in the John Fluevog store! ;p

With a little help from my pink umbrella my fantabulous grrl Sally gave me for my birthday this year! :)

I got this lovely card in the mail from a friend that recently had to make a difficult move. She appreciated the card I sent her earlier ... the Pony Express is a wonderful thing. :)

I got an invitation to the Gladstone from my friend Jason to go to Steers and Queers: Night of 1,000 Dollys. Not as many Dollys as last year but it was a super fun event!
Can I get a Gaymen and Dollylujah y'all!
It's the Little Things 2.0 #29
Yup - the weather is windy and cold and that walk after work helped me get some fresh air while I picked up groceries for a super fly dinner that I made while listening to music. bURP!
;p

Sometimes a hot shower just helps make things a bit better.
Our ball team lost our game by one freakin' run and over two debatable calls in the last inning. Grrrrr!
But I'm feeling a bit better after a shower and with a cup of tea and a bit of chocolate in front of me.
Hope y'all had a great day!

Whoo hoooo! Back at work today after a week of pink eye fun. It's, of course, not so much about being back at the office because I liked my time in front of my sewing machine and sketch pad but just glad that ickiness is gone. And *knock on wood*, I won't see it ever again. Blah!
But at least it was a lovely sunny day and I got out for a walk and some fresh air and Vitamin D at lunch hour. :)

The commute home is always better than the commute to work. Especially when you've made a pit stop at the farmers market along the way ... apple cider and sheep's cheese and potato olive oil sourdough bread - OH YEAH!!

So I went to bed last night with a headache and then woke up with the darned thing too. I decided to stay home from work since I knew I wouldn't make it through the day feeling like I did. It lasted all day ... not a usual thing for me and I felt so crappy that I didn't even have the energy to putter about.
My friend Ashley found out I wasn't well so he brought me some hot and sour soup for dinner tonight because "I don't know what it is but soup fixes everything" according to him. It was a sweet gesture and a yummy bowl of comfort food.
Thank you Ashley!

LAAAAAAAAAAA!! Patience - even while freezing your booty off - is a virtue.

Day's like this make me very glad to have a roof over my head.
I started heading home shortly after this and it started to rain. No problem - pull out the umbrella. Then it started to *pour*. Even with the brolly, I got a bit wet from the thighs down with the wind and such. Took shelter under of overhanging for a bit and then kept walking. The rain was up and down in heaviness all the way home.
I got home just before it really started to downpour! :p

There is some major *squeeing* going on over here. I have been searching for a little sketchbook that I can toss in my purse/backpack on-the-go, but haven't had any luck in shops around town. I finally turned to the Internet & found this one on Amazon. It is 4x6 (inches) + can be used with wet/dry media + it's 93 lb. weight! So perfect! Can't wait to play! #beepaper #sketchbook #sketch #itsthelittlethings #newtoysforme
For dinner tonight, Scott brings home the cheese steak deluxe for us to split AND a case of beer that I like. Don't get me wrong. I like just about any beer, but this IS one that I really enjoy. Mine for the summer. The best part is that I didn't even ask
I ADORE rust.

Fun with album covers and Valentine's Day at Kops Records on Queen Street West. They had 45's hanging in the window too but I couldn't get a clear shot of them.

A nice little bowl of scrambled eggs, feta and smoked salmon. A well deserved snack after our 18 to 7 slo-pitch win tonight! Whooo hoooo - go team!!

I'm behind by one for my 365 project. Woke up yesterday afternoon - yes, after noon, feeling crappy. I hibernated at home, did a bit of crafty stuff, slept more and took it easy.
Today I decided to experiment on myself and made a lentil soup - pretty much made it up as I went along. I made the lentils like one of my cookbooks told me. In a separate pan, I sauteed up most of one medium red onion, three smalls peppers (yellow, red and orange - even though I knew that it would be thrown into the blender with some vegetable broth but the colour whore in me still grabbed the various colours) along with several cloves of garlic and steamed up a bunch of spinach. Garlic is good for colds ya know.
I think I overdid the lentils a wee bit but hey, I did say I hadn't done this before right?? I blended up the sauteed bits along with the spinach with some veggie broth and tossed it in with the lentils after draining off a bit of water from them. I then added some salt, pepper, some coriander, a pinch or so of chili pepper and a wee bit of cumin. And a bit more garlic. lol! It has a bit of spice to it but not too much.
I then heated up some leftover baguette and garnished the soup with some grated parmesan. Not bad for a first attempt methinks. Tastes like more actually.
Cheers! :)

it has somehow formed the rite of play?
How trustworthy can dreams be if a happy fantasy and a terrible nightmare leave you, even after after months, feeling the same as you did before?
just because you dream and act upon them is also not enough. And when the dream or purpose is achieved?
beyond the purpose too... intention leads. ~ when is pure and genuine, it keeps you pure and genuine moment to moment.

Some things worth the tellin'
And you'd be right in guessin'
That each and every lesson they were hard won"
Making a little something for someone who's a lot special. A little out of practice with the hand sewing though. :p

This is pretty much all I saw of the day yesterday. I slept for all but 3 or 4 hours yesterday. Seems I had a nice case of food poisoning. Oh. Yippee. Feeling a bit better today but still quite out of sorts unfortunately.
Have a good day everyone!

Did you know Monty the cat?
King of Croft and all that!
(ask your dog, ask your cat)
Did you give him a pet
Once you had met?
Or tickle his soft silken tum-tum?
Did he tell you his tale in articulate meow
And she his affection with a rub of his brow?
If so, then we truly must thank you.
His loss here has left us really quite blue
But remembering all of those of you
Who knew how to share a sweet kindness true,
In midst of each day
To offer wee beastie affectionate feastie.
- in memory of Monty
Thank you!
A sweet tribute of a furry friend.

Always better with good company too. :)

It's been awhile since I baked so I put together some banana muffins ... with a twist. I didn't have *quite* enough flour for the recipe so I put in a bit of oatmeal to help fill out the recipe.
And along with chocolate chips, I put in some cut up raspberries too. Waiting for my tea to steep and then test them out. Wish me luck!

I couldn't use the automatic ticket barriers at Victoria or Brighton because I had to show my MANDATORY RESERVATION COUPON 1OF 1.
But... you can't book seat on this train service...
I wrote to Southern to ask them to put an end to this minor madness. I received a templated reply which suggested nobody had really read what I wrote.
Actually this is just part of the haul. Can't go giving hints about possible future giftie things.
I had a lovely time today with my faboo grrl Shelna! We've been going to this show almost every year for *many* years and it's always a fun adventure for us.

I was bad and didn't get a little thing shot done yesterday but I think this gem makes up for it. And I have another one too!
