It is still cold and snowy up north, but let's not forget: it is spring. This photo was taken exactly one year ago in Spain. During la fiesta de los patios, people open their homes to display beautiful patios. What an experience!
ETA 1/8/08: It seems that there's not enough interest in the Pay It Forward exchange. My sense is that the commitment to make 3 handmade items for 3 people is probably daunting to many. Maybe we can do a smaller exchange among Flickr friends/contacts. Any thoughts?
I saw this exchange on bloominknitiot.blogspot.com/ blog. Although a requirement of participation is that all participants have a blog. I'm hoping that Flickr will count for me.
The idea of the exchange is I will send a handmade gift to the first three people who leave a comment on this FLICKR post requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet, and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog/FLICKR - this means you must have a blog/FLICKR.
Yes, I'm still dreaming of summer and those long lazy days spent doing nothing much at all.

HERE IT IS:
The Mind Treads Through Strange Thinkings When You Have Nothing Left (that you care) To Lose:
For instance, what if there is some type of sacred, or divine, energy, that brings loss to us, so that this energy can effectively see through our ugly past and pain.., into the universal abundance of light and gain?
If we can fuse hydrogen into helium, why not?
We are made of the stars after all...
Perhaps I should tread more lightly and not concern myself so much with corporeal limitations...?
I already feel like an empty vessel.
I want so badly to fill it up
(.take.another.one.).
Despair, Terror, and those other undesirable Types have taken up too much space already.
It's time for this to start to stop.
Everything stops ... Eventually.
*I wrote this on 11-21-11 while waiting for the medical examiner to come and pronounce my dad's "official" TOD.
.****.
My father was only one man. A great man, yes, but I included a more intimate post today because of the thousands of lives taken from us 11 years ago today. I am only one person. We are only one family. The people of New York, the United States, and around the world, instantly lost so many.
I guess I'm saying.., this is my dedication to the victims, the heroes, the dead, the survivors, and all of us affected.
With love,
DAH.
Pictures from Punch. 19th Century.
The Victorians were rather fond of "brat jokes" and "urchin" jokes. These were jokes where a child gets the better of an adult. The principle difference between them was the social class of the child ~ so this is a "brat" joke.

It's in the 90s at home and in the high 60s/low 70s at the beach. Guess where we wanted to be.
The warm Portland air meets the cool ocean air and makes a whole lotta beautiful fog.
It was love at first sight when I cast my eyes on this interesting dark beauty hybridized by Dupont-Gerlich. The cross is Voodoo Magic by Cajun Sunset. Father Gerlich told me that it produces a nice sized flower on a good upright plant. It is now on my wish list.
Primera ilustración que hago en muchisimo tiempo...., perdón por la producción pero solo tenía lapiz mina.
So, it's rainy and dark here today and I've never done a bathroom mirror shot (I don't think). Since the kid's bathroom is no longer seizure-inducing (striped wallpaper-ugh!), I thought I'd get one in there. We still need towels, bath mat, shower curtain and something to hang on the walls but it's functional again.
