It took me a few minutes to realize that this was a childrens car stting on top of the old refridgerator. Judging by the style it must've been from the early 50's. So much here just left to rust away.

It was a damp and cloudy day when we photographed 37213 in the coal yard at Gobowen. The train was the 07.14 from Washwood Heath.
At the far end of the yard a Bedford TK has a partial load of coal sacks, no doubt for homes in the local area.
37213 was built at English Electric as D6913, the loco entered service new to Landore 07/01/1964. The loco was withdrawn 23/04/2003 and cut by T.J. Thomson and Son at Stockton, 04/05/2003.

I have been determined to find this crazy rock formation nicknamed the King-Of-Wings for several years. I've seen a few photos of it and wanted desperately to find it. It is the most obscure thing I have ever found. This hoodoo seems to somehow defy the laws of physics and gravity. (no, this is not photoshopped) Who knows how much longer this thing will keep standing. I really wanted to document it before it collapses.
A lot of research went into this. It's not in Bisti Badlands as I had previously thought. It's about 10 miles south of that in another badlands called Ah Shi Sle Pah (yes, really) The badlands around Bisti stretch out for about 20 miles. Trying to find one particular rock formation amidst that 20 miles is like quite literally finding a needle in a haystack. It was about a four mile hike from the nearest road. (when I say road, I mean a few tire tracks thru the desert) The road abruptly ended at a cliff going down to a great big wash. From there it was on foot for about four miles putting 100% faith in my GPS, climbing through washes and under fences. It's difficult blindly following a little dot on a GPS screen, especially when the GPS keeps telling you to go left, when your instincts are telling you to go right. I could see a bunch of badlands off to the right, but the direction I was heading was nothing but dead grass and sagebrush. Eventually the GPS won, as I came over a hill and, lo and behold, there was a few miles of badlands ahead. As soon as I saw those badlands, I was elated. I knew the GPS must be right. This formation was in there. I knew it. Scaling down a cliff into the badlands was a challenge.
So… I found it! This is one of the scariest hikes I have ever done. Not that it was dangerous or challenging. Just scary putting 100% faith in a dot on a GPS screen. Scary knowing that if the battery on the GPS dies, I have almost no chance of ever finding my way back to my truck which was parked in the middle of the desert about 15 miles from the nearest paved road. Scary that if I did have a problem, I had absolutely no cell phone signal. Even scarier that by the time I found this thing, it was only an hour before sunset, and I had hiked over two hours to find it. I REALLY didn't want to try to find my truck in the dark. There is no moon right now, so it would be REALLY dark! I shot this quickly and started heading back immediately. Luckily I was able to find a much more direct route back, and did manage to find my truck shortly after sunset.
It's still very early morning, and the sunlight is heavily filtered by the tall forest growth to the east. Although I have the sun at my back, the gorgets will not display full red iridescence until it gets a little brighter. In this shot you get nary a hint of the vibrant wine-red color to come with later more intense sunlight! This dazzling display is then based more on iridescence than pigment colors... but the sun angle has to be correct. The experienced males know how to precisely position themselves relative to sun angle to awe the ladies. (This fully adult male is experienced!) You can usually get more feathering detail of the gorget region in subdued lighting like this. The full iridescence is often overwhelming!

It was a strange winter at the Lofoten in Norway this year. Hardly no snow and (too) much some shine. It could be better... it could be worse...
Rainbirder said, this cute, little Aardvark baby needs a name, so I decided to call him "Emil".
I hope you like the name ;)

It is difficult to take the flower picture even in open shade, because it overexposed easily. Have a great day!

I saw this at the garden department of Home Depot. I haven't gotten it for my garden--yet. [EDIT: Looks like I won't, either, because when I went back to buy it, there were no more. Next time I will not resist the urge for an impulse purchase.]
Here's some information about this lovely flower.
Enjoy your Sunday.

Why Does It Always Rain On Me
Travis
I can't sleep tonight
Everybody's saying everything is alright
Still I can't close my eyes
I'm seeing a tunnel at the end of all of these lights
Sunny days, where have you gone?
I get the strangest feeling you belong
Why does it always rain on me?
Is it because I lied when I was seventeen?
Why does it always rain on me?
Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning
I can't stand myself
I'm being held up by invisible men
Still life on a shelf when
I've got my mind on something else
Sunny days, oh, where have you gone?
I get the strangest feeling you belong
Why does it always rain on me?
Is it because I lied when I was seventeen?
Why does it always rain on me?
Even when the sun is shining I can't avoid the lightning
Went into the city this morning to shoot the storm that was predicted. Was really hoping for some fork lightning, but only got blanket lightning instead.
Thank God for Jeffrey St Wharf and the cover it provided.
My first time getting waterfalls coming off the Harbour Bridge though, so gotta be happy with that.
This is also my official first image with my new Sony A7r5, so again, thank you to Sony Australia for that.
Hope you like "Why Does It Always Rain On Me"
Cheers, Mike

My contribution to this week's Fotosöndag on "Symbols".
As I was teasing you with the Christmas/Halloween photos I have decided the full length one can wait a little while longer and instead you can have this one.
Feeling a little better this evening and so hopefully i should be ok to go back to work tomorrow
You say you really know me,
not afraid to show me
what is in your eyes
Tell me about the rumours
Are they only rumours?
Are they only lies?
Falling out of a perfect dream, coming out of the blue.
Is it true?
Is it over?
Did I throw it away?
Was it you?
Did you tell me you would never leave me this way?

I had the opportunity to stop by one of my favorite places over the weekend in Colorado Springs. It overlooks this beautiful place from above. At the right time the rocks seem to glow red under the rays of the sun. It's truly one of my favorite places to stop at. It tends to get a little busy as it's a popular spot and it's probably been photographed a million times! You'll still find me there when I chance to be in the neighborhood ;) I hope you here at Flickr have been well. I haven't been on as much as I'd like but when I do I garner so much inspiration from the pictures in my feed. It's like taking a hot luxurious bubble bath. You don't do it often enough and wonder "why not!?" as you soak in the warmth and comforting water. Trying to get better about posting here! My photography goals have changed a bit - I recently was assigned bedrest for the remainder of my pregnancy and that has changed a little bit of how much I get out. Just a little bit. But I have been busy with personal goals for growth even if it involves more home type shots.
