This is an Iris I cross-pollinated, named for my wife Dawn. It is a cross between a purple iris and a chocolate iris. Oh, this is the first bloom and there are two more to come! From A Place in My Garden

Anyone know the name?

My neighbor thinned her iris bed out last May and gave me some of the plants that she dug up. What a simple yet wonderful gift. I am enjoying them immensely!

This is the first iris this year from my garden.

The bearded iris were starting to really go nuts in Eureka Springs the week we were there. I didn't get to photograph as many as I would have liked, darnit!

Unfortunately, these iris photos were taken in harsh, bright, mid-afternoon light. I'm going to have to try again when it's overcast or closer to sunset. (Although I suppose sunrise would work too, except I'm not up that early.)

My family never expected I'd take up gardening....
