sono alcuni iris nati da seme che stanno iniziando a fiorire...quelli che sono riuscito a salvare dagli istrici :-(

Frutto di miei incroci...

I love Iris. They are my favourite flower. Actually, a couple of weeks ago, Tulips were my favourite flower and in a few weeks something else will be my favourite. I suspect I may have a case of flower promiscuity. Flowers exhibit such outrageous colours and forms that, if looked at as objects without reference to their botanical function, they would be considered too improbable to exist. None-the-less, here they are, and I just keep on looking. - JW

Taken using a tripod-mounted Nikon D5000 fitted with a 55-200mm VR lense set to 200mm and fitted with 2 Minolta 0 closeup lenses (i.e. stacked) to allow getting this close, ISO400 (windy so needed a bit of speed to capture them), Aperture priority mode, F/13.0 (wanted depth of field and f/22 was noticeably softiish), 1/160 sec. PP was done using GIMP: tone curve adjust to clean up somewhat muddy whites, do a locally selected desaturate on 2 small areas to get rid of green (right side) and yellow/green (left side), bit of dodging to the whites in a few spots, sharpen, add border, scale to 1024 wide for posting.

Ozark Rebounder bloomed on March 31, 2010 in my yard. It looked like black velvet yesterday. It looks just a bit lighter in the picture than it really does.

The irises in our yard are at their peak. Has been pretty warm and humid for the past few days. Hopefully it will cool down a bit so we can enjoy them for a bit longer.

Had to make mail art inspired by the month's birth flower. February was iris or violet - being indecisive, I drew 2 ATCs. Colored pencil on bristol.
