Floral tube entrance of Iris bismarckiana (Iridaceae - sect. Oncocyclus), aka "the Iris of Nazareth", 4.iii.2010, Nazareth, Israël. This iris grows only in Nazareth's area and it is now seriously threatened by urban extension.
Found these odd seed pods on Kilmory Beach (Argyll, West Coast of Scotland) on Sunday. They look a bit like gherkins on the outside, but the inside looks a bit like corn (is that maize in British?) The outer skin was very hard and tough and had to be cut through with a knife.

Firenze - Giardino delle Iris
E' situato ai piedi di Piazzale Michelangelo e permette di godere lo spettacolo dei fiori e un panorama mozzafiato.
Meraviglioso.
Il “Premio Firenze”, bandito per la prima volta nel 1954, è un Concorso Internazionale annuale per le migliori varietà di Iris.

I don't have a dedicated macro lens, this was taken with a Tamaron 100-300 with screw on +2 macro filter.
I was looking for any snowdrops that might have started to flower, but was surprised to see this instead! (no snowdrops - and we had 10 last year)
Beautiful Iris I came across in the Botanic Gardens whilst doing a photoshoot for my photography class.

This may be non-optimal colour wise as my scanner was playing up something severe! Will rescan once I'm established... only the computer set up so far :)
