A painting with a story

this painting took almost ten years to complete! Today, I found this half finish watercolor in one of my watercolor pads: I started it when I was visiting my friend Michael when he was living in Boulder, Colorado IN 2004 but for some reason never finish it till today.

Closeup of an Iris in bloom using my old 90mm Vivitar macro lens.

I used my aluminum foil reflector, a piece of foil covered cardboard, on the right to help bring out the texture more. I thought since I suggested it to someone else and it worked for them, I'd better try it myself.

the last time I took pictures of an iris was in Monet's gardens in Normandy. I'll have to dig it out to see the difference.
