The Iris told me if I don’t take more pictures of them they would not bloom next year, they don’t know it but I deleted all the other pictures.
Taken last year, I still have hundreds of iris's photos from previous years..... Each one is different, as there are 1,000 varieties planted at this memorial iris garden near my home. You need to go a few times to capture all their blooming. :-)
I grew all the Irises in pots this year and was rewarded with lots of flowers.

now she's older. :-)
Since Iris is the Greek goddess for the Messenger of Love, her sacred flower is considered the symbol of communication and messages.
Therefore the flower iris in the language of flowers symbolises eloquence.
A purple iris is symbolic of wisdom and compliments.
A blue iris symbolises faith and hope.
A yellow iris symbolises passion while white iris symbolises purity.
As you can see, the gift of iris can be used to convey many emotions.
Dutch irises are hybrids of two older varieties, giving it a look all its own.
The distinctive ‘fleur-de-lis' flowers come in a variety of blues, yellows, purples, and white.
Organic, sensual, all about shape and colour.
The Iris is just born elegance... extremely ephemeral, they barely last a few days, yet with unbelievable beauty and style.
Best to leave them in the garden... like so many of the bulbs!

- the splendid winter-flowering iris originally from North Africa.
This year it is in bloom earlier than usual !
Yellow Iris, or Yellow Flag Iris, is a perennial aquatic plant native to Europe, Western Asia and North Africa. It is an invasive species and a threat to marshlands. Yellow Iris is poisonous to both humans and animals if eaten, and its sap can cause dermatitis. One wonders how something so lovely can be so harmful.

In my front garden. No idea what species they are, as they were planted by the previous occupiers, but they do look a bit like 'Iris sibirica'. I absolutely love them though!
