A follow-up to this picture (see also the comments there regarding the living together of these two species in the local zoo.

The "Kunstmuseum Stuttgart" was opened in 2005.

After this shot, I just had to turn around and walk a few meters to find this view.

Satellite view

I also added a cropped black & white variant

Added to the Cream of the Crop pool as most "interesting".

The picture was edited in Photoshop. Here you can see the original - out of the cam - picture.

This grey heron was waiting together with the sea lions for the feeding time.

Chronologically, it is a 1/3rd second after part 1...

They got into a playful fight...

Yesterday, the local zoo (the "Wilhelma" in Stuttgart) presented its baby polar bear to the public. Today I made a visit.

In contrast to the famous Knut from Berlin, Wilbär is raised by his mother Corinna (which was the reason for all the secrecy, as the responsible persons of the zoo didn't want to disturb the relationship between Wilbär and his mother).

More pictures of Wilbär.

I licensed the picture for use on a baseball cap for kids.

From the lahore wildness!

Taken about 15 seconds after this shot

Another shot from 2007 (when the cubs were about 11 weeks old)...

Some winter/snow shots of this road can be found here and here

Merry christmas to everyone!

Another detail from the same door.

Danke!

The "Dicker Turm" ("Bulky Tower") is a landmark of Esslingen.

...

Esslinger Burg.

I'm glad about the glass pane of the terrarium between me and the snake... ;)

Same snake as in this shot.

When I walked through the woods, I felt like I was in some fairytale world...

Taken at the same occasion than this shot.

The weather today was very warm for January, so we made a nice walk with many possibilites to sniff ...

Here's a shot which was taken a split second later...

Here's another shot of a gelada riding on a sheep...

This snake seems to become my favorite "model" in the local zoo.. ;)

A close-up of this rose. A also added another variant where I changed the position of the light.

He loves to nibble on his mother...

More pictures of Wilbär.

Even though our dog is now 10 years old (the white patches around his nose are not from the snow), he still loves running in the snow ...

I caught this little guy on a meadow in the local zoo (although it's not an "official" zoo animal).

The german name (Eichhörnchen) seems not to be derived from Eiche (= Oak) but from the old german word "aig" which means "to move fast" - and moving fast it did!

Here's an older shot from the side...

154 cast iron stairs leading up to the top of the 38m tower of the Granitz Hunting Castle on the island Rügen.

Handheld HDR from 5 shots.

The world record car T80 was built in1939 by Ferdinand Porsche. It was equipped with the plane motor DB 603 with 3,000 HP. The T80 should be the worlds fastet vehicle on 4 wheels. It was planned to race in 1940 with up to 600 km/h over the Autobahn. The start of WWII halted this project, so the T80 was never used.

Here's another angle on this car which better shows off its size.

Taken a view milliseconds before this shot.

More pictures of Wilbär.

Carlos is currently in the cage previously inhabited by the old lionesses, so you can get closer than to the other tigers. You just have to aim between the bars... ;)

More tiger pictures.

A view of todays sunset sky. Taken just a few steps from the front door...

A few minutes later, I was able to capture some lightning on the horizon (second shot here.)

... having a playful battle with their horns...

Compare with the situation 40 seconds later... ;)
