Old one I forgot put up. Solid IPA that I have revisited a few times. Great bitterness in this balanced IPA.

OK, I don't really like IPA beers, but I'm sometimes drawn to their sharp aftertaste and hops. Smuttynose IPA, brewed in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, is probably the best IPA that I've tried.

The pour was a murky dark amber with an average (1-2 finger) off white frothy head that reduced to a few puddles and a large collar of residue which created some excellent sheets of lace.
The aroma was of a floral hop, a toasted grain malt and an earthy yeast with notes of caramel, apricot and a good dose of citrus (lemon and grapefruit).
The taste was a light bitter sweet and a bit acidic with a nice malty feel and had notes of caramel throughout, then progressed into this nice hoppy flavor, that had just a tad of sweetness to it with notes of apricot and citrus at the end. The flavor hung around for what seemed like forever, which just increased the pleasure of the tasting experience.
Mouthfeel was right under medium in body with an extremely dry texture and a moderate carbonation.
Overall all I have to say about this brew is: "Now that’s an IPA"...

A decent, hoppy IPA. I guess I just can't get beyond how bad Magic Hat's "Number 9" beer is. For some reason, that really impaired my ability to objectively rate this beer. I wonder what I would have thought if it had been a blind test?
I used my brand-new, $9 reverse coupler to reverse-mount my 50mm lens in order to use it for macro shots.
Strobist: SB-600 and SB-800 on either side. The SB-600 was shot through a Lightsphere at 1/2. The SB-800 was shot through a white umbrella, at 1/32.
"Doing it right since 2014", it says on the label. Certianly seems good so far to me. A modern classic IPA. Brewed in Manchester, bought at High Peak Beers in Stockport.

This 7,25% abv India Pale Ale poured a hazy golden color with a tiny white head. Aroma was very hoppy with some grass notes. Flavor was bitter with a resinous finish. A bit one-dimensial in my mouth, some floral or citrus hops would have improved the overall impression. But this bottle may have been a bit old.
A dark, malty IPA. I don't think it has a high alcohol content, but the combination of hops and malt make it seem somewhat boozy tasting.
You should try this if you like complex, malty IPA's.
Ah hell, you should try it anyway!

Strobist: SB-800 beneath the beer (which was placed on an opaque plastic container) pointed straight up and set at 105mm at 1/1..
This one is by Harpoon Brewery, 100 Barrel Selection.
I tried the Harpoon Brewery regular IPA - it was pretty mediocre.They have done much better on this brew, I would say:
- light amber in color, with a nice foamy hat; pleasantly bitter and nice on the palate. That said, the brew doesn't have enough hops for an IPA. My score is 80/100.

I actually ended up with a 152F mash temperature using 13.5 qts of water. I missed my final gravity, but I believe that I actually had a little more than 5Gallons in my fermenter.

An Amarillo IPA dry hoped with Cascade pellets (couldn't find any Amarillo pellets)
Thank you all for stopped by and for all the supports. It'd been a great journey for me during the time spent in USA. Now I'm starting a new chapter of my life&works. I'll be base in Thailand and will try to travel into many remote countries of Asia. Hopefully to deliver another points of view of the land I was born. Again anyone travel to this area just let me know. I'll try to be a good host. ;-)
By the way, sorry for my long absent on flickr. I've been busy between Moving& Traveling. Hopefully to get back and share some photos with you guys soon.

I picked up this bomber of fresh hop IPA from Stone Brewing to enjoy while I listened to my new headphones from MrSpeakers (modified Fostex T50RP's) on my Squeezebox music streaming device. This IPA is all about super-fresh hops. The aroma is pretty much like sticking your head in a bag of hops and the flavor is like you chomped down into the hops. The 9.4% ABV is supremely hidden in this beer so be careful! A tasty fresh-hop IPA and worth trying. Oh, the headphones are awesome as well!
