F.X. Matt Brewing Company - Utica, New York USA
Belgian IPA [Hybrid] (ABV 6%) (IBU 50)
[Suggested Glassware: Tulip Glass]
Rating: 3.2/5.0
Aroma: 6/10
Appearance: 4/5
Taste: 7/10
Palate: 3/5
Overall: 14/20
The pour was a murky straw yellow with an average (1-2 finger) white creamy head that was mostly lasting, reducing to a thin puddled film and medium collar with excellent sheets of lacing.
The aroma was of a light grain malt, resin and citrus hops and a sweaty Belgian yeast with a note of citrus (grapefruit and orange peel) and a bit of coriander.
The taste was lightly sweet and fruity with just a touch of spice early on, progressing with a nice citrusy hoppy taste, along with a strong grainy yeast presence and a citrus peel bite towards the finish. The flavor hung around for a good long time following the swallow with the bitter citrus peel taste fading ever so slowly off the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was a couple steps beyond light in body with a dry, creamy texture and a medium carbonation.
Overall this was a tasty and well balanced brew with a pleasing spicy citrus favor and a nice creamy drinkability...

Dogfish Head. The first of five US micros sent by ericschoon. This one accompanied the soccer game on Saturday. The game didn't end in our favor so luckily we had these beer. We tried two, three to go. This was a very interesting and good IPA. Strong - 9% - and IBU of 90, but that didn't actually seem that bitter due to the heavy body, and high sweetness (or was that the alcohol?).

This may appear to be really organized and responsible of me. It is not. I only have to know a few of these (the ones we use in English), but I thought the chart looked cool and was interesting. So I copied it out.
I am really inventive when trying to find something to distract me from doing the work I am supposed to be doing.
Things I find most interesting:
white paper creates glare. I mean, it makes sense, but surprised me at the same time.
the symbol that is like a backwards C. Some english speakers use it, others do not. Pronounce Don and Dawn-- if you pronounce these differently, you use it.
The sounds that I cannot even imagine the sound of.
I really like the Shwa (the upside-down e in the middle). It is like the lazy vowel. (it sounds like "uh")
The label of the Ægir IPA tells the story of Ægir, a jötunn and a king of the sea in Norse mythology. He was also known for brewing beer for the Norse Gods, which is the reason the brewery took this name.

Another fine IPA from the folks at Rogue Brewery.
A golden hoppy beer with a strong, bitter taste. An almost creamy, classic American IPA!

Note: this is actually a relabeled "Sea Dog Old East India Pale Ale" from Shipyard Brewing Company. Shipyard started life in Federal Jack's. I think Shipyard owns Federal Jack's but the connections weren't completely clear...
A bottle of the 6% abv Sacred Cow IPA from brewery Arbor Brewing Company Pub & Eatery, located in Ann Arbor, Mi. This brewery has been making decent beers since 1995 and their Sacred Cow is a good American style IPA with lots of fresh hops.
Our very first batch of Boneshaker was brewed for a local IPA challenge. Our brewers poured copious amounts of hops into the brew, balanced it out with over 5 different malts, decided to leave it unfiltered it and allowed to naturally carbonate. The result? A truly unique taste experience and an award winning IPA! Expect fresh grapefruit & pine aromas followed by massive hop flavours!
Spinners Brewing's Hoptoria IPA was specially created to honour the 150th birthday of the beautiful city of Victoria, and my landlord wants me to clear out all of my beers from my fridge, thinking I'm an alcoholic, now I have to drink them!
Appearance: Hoptoria (great name BTW) pours a standard caramel-red amber just like any standard IPA out there (always a great colour to look at). Not much head, but it's a slight beige/eggshell white look to it, the foam that does go down ends up clinging to the sides of the glass.
Aroma: A slightly chlorenic aroma (blah) with an abundance of various hops, mostly a floral Cascadeness to it with some light citrus, not overpowering, not overly hopped, not much bitterness to it, quite a nice drinking IPA.
Taste: A nice lightly balanced IPA with Cascade hops among other hops in there, very floral, quite more mellow than the standard West Coast style IPAs we see out there, nowhere near as light as a Keith's Cascade Hopped Ale, but 100x better! A bit of lemon in there. A rainy evening sort of IPA.
Overall Thoughts: A bit lighter than most IPAs out there, but appreciative, as I said "a rainy evening" sort of IPA, one you can drink to the sound of rain hitting the roof. Nice floral hops, a bit of sweetness, not too bitter, not too boring, it's right in the middle. Good stuff. 6.8% ABV
Fearless IPA is a hop forward India Pale Ale crafted with premium malts and hops from around the world. Zythos and Galaxy hops combine to provide a tropical fruit aroma while cascades and columbus provide a citrus-like bitter finish
"The Vienna State Opera (German: Wiener Staatsoper, IPA: [ˈviːnɐ ˈʃtaːtsˌʔoːpɐ]) is an opera house and opera company based in Vienna, Austria. The 1,709-seat Renaissance Revival venue was the first major building on the Vienna Ring Road. It was built from 1861 to 1869 following plans by August Sicard von Sicardsburg and Eduard van der Nüll, and designs by Josef Hlávka. The opera house was inaugurated as the "Vienna Court Opera" (Wiener Hofoper) in the presence of Emperor Franz Joseph I and Empress Elisabeth of Austria. It became known by its current name after the establishment of the First Austrian Republic in 1921. The Vienna State Opera is the successor of the old Vienna Court Opera (built in 1636 inside the Hofburg). The new site was chosen and the construction paid by Emperor Franz Joseph in 1861.
The members of the Vienna Philharmonic are recruited from the Vienna State Opera's orchestra. The building is also the home of the Vienna State Ballet, and it hosts the annual Vienna Opera Ball during the carnival season.
The Innere Stadt (German pronunciation: [ˈɪnərə ˈʃtad] ⓘ; Viennese: Innare Stod; "Inner City") is the 1st municipal district of Vienna (German: 1. Bezirk) located in the center of the Austrian capital. The Innere Stadt is the old town of Vienna. Until the city boundaries were expanded in 1850, the Innere Stadt was congruent with the city of Vienna. Traditionally it was divided into four quarters, which were designated after important town gates: Stubenviertel (northeast), Kärntner Viertel (southeast), Widmerviertel (southwest), Schottenviertel (northwest).
The Ringstraße circles the Innere Stadt along the route of the former city walls.
The first district is, with a workforce of 100,745, the largest employment locale in Vienna. This is partially due to tourism, as well as the presence of many corporate headquarters due to the district's central location.
Vienna (/viˈɛnə/ i vee-EN-ə; German: Wien [viːn] i; Austro-Bavarian: Wean [veɐ̯n]) is the capital, largest city, and one of nine provinces of Austria. Vienna is Austria's most populous city and its primate city, with about two million inhabitants (2.9 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one-third of the country's population), and its cultural, economic, and political center. It is the sixth-largest city proper by population in the European Union and the largest of all cities on the Danube river.
Until the beginning of the 20th century, Vienna was the largest German-speaking city in the world, and before the splitting of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in World War I, the city had two million inhabitants. Today, it is the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin. Vienna is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations, OPEC and the OSCE. The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. These regions work together in a European Centrope border region. Along with nearby Bratislava, Vienna forms a metropolitan region with 3 million inhabitants. In 2001, the city center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In July 2017 it was moved to the list of World Heritage in Danger.
Additionally, Vienna has been called the "City of Music" due to its musical legacy, as many famous classical musicians such as Beethoven and Mozart called Vienna home. Vienna is also said to be the "City of Dreams" because it was home to the world's first psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. Vienna's ancestral roots lie in early Celtic and Roman settlements that transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city. It is well known for having played a pivotal role as a leading European music center, from the age of Viennese Classicism through the early part of the 20th century. The historic center of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque palaces and gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstraße lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks.
