"Doing it right since 2014", it says on the label. Certianly seems good so far to me. A modern classic IPA. Brewed in Manchester, bought at High Peak Beers in Stockport.
A decent, hoppy IPA. I guess I just can't get beyond how bad Magic Hat's "Number 9" beer is. For some reason, that really impaired my ability to objectively rate this beer. I wonder what I would have thought if it had been a blind test?
I used my brand-new, $9 reverse coupler to reverse-mount my 50mm lens in order to use it for macro shots.
Strobist: SB-600 and SB-800 on either side. The SB-600 was shot through a Lightsphere at 1/2. The SB-800 was shot through a white umbrella, at 1/32.
This one is by Harpoon Brewery, 100 Barrel Selection.
I tried the Harpoon Brewery regular IPA - it was pretty mediocre.They have done much better on this brew, I would say:
- light amber in color, with a nice foamy hat; pleasantly bitter and nice on the palate. That said, the brew doesn't have enough hops for an IPA. My score is 80/100.
Tonight I will be drinking mostly IPAs. These are all American IPAs which I tend to prefer. All top notch brews that I would rate at 7.5/10 and higher, you can't go wrong with any of these.

Meantime IPA

I rarely get to have a drink these days, so this was supposed to be something special. It was not.
Overall, this IPA fell flat, and was a lot closer to Pilsner than I expected; there was almost no hops to it at all. Albeit bottle conditioned it was lacking flavor, and just didn't hit the spot.
I'd give it 75 out 100.

Tallgrass IPA pours a nice rocky finger of foam over a cloudy peach colored brew. There's very little carbonation, but the nose has a nice piney/citrus aroma riding over a sweet fruitiness. Up front the flavor is sweet malt with notes of wheat cracker with pine hop off the back. Mouthfeel is round and full finishing with a long grassy hop aftertaste. As IPAs go, this one is right in my comfort zone- assertive hops riding over a big fat bottom- a nice, balanced brew.

If Grandma wouldn't have recognised it as food, don't eat it.
If it's got more than 5 ingredients, don't eat it.
Happily this Battledown IPA passes both tests
(Shot with an old Pentacon 50/1.8: not a great bit of glass, but fast, handsome, handles well, and has a v. small min. focus.)
Green Flash Brewing. After the very nice start with 90 Minute IPA we tried the West Coast IPA. I thought we did this the wrong way since this wasn't as strong as the previous (7% vs 9%). However this actually had more taste, more bitter and hoppier. If the 90 Minute IPA was a very good ale, this was actually superb in my taste. A pity I can't find it here!
