L&C's third interactive mural was unveiled Tuesday, May 16, 2023. It is entitled, "Grow Through What You Go Through" and the artist is Graphic Design Student Megan Doyle (expected grad, Fall 2023).
Stemming from the need for more subtle forms of communication to complement existing IT devices, this project explores interactive pillows as a means of enhancing long-distance communications. Through natural interaction with a pillow in one location, dynamic textile patterns are activated in a pillow located elsewhere. Expanding the vocabulary for remote communications through tangible and aesthetic interaction, the pillows offer a new repertoire of expressive possibilities that consider emotional, social, and aesthetic values.
The interactive pillows come in pairs and mediate closeness at a distance. By leaning against, touching, or hugging a pillow, the pattern on the other pillow activates and glows dynamically. Changing from one pattern to another, gestures are exchanged remotely.
Scenarios for use of the pillows include families or loved-ones located at a distance. In contrast to the limited modality of telephony, interactive pillows could support the expression of longing and presence through interactions with intimate, everyday objects.

Tikal, Guatemala
Tikal is one of the largest archaeological sites and urban centres of the pre-Columbian Maya civilization. It is located in the archaeological region of the Petén Basin in what is now northern Guatemala. Situated in the department of El Petén, the site is part of Guatemala's Tikal National Park and in 1979 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Tikal is known as the "New York" of the Mayan World.
Tikal was the capital of a conquest state that became one of the most powerful kingdoms of the ancient Maya. Though monumental architecture at the site dates back as far as the 4th century BC, Tikal reached its apogee during the Classic Period, ca. 200 to 900 AD. During this time, the city dominated much of the Maya region politically, economically, and militarily, while interacting with areas throughout Mesoamerica such as the great metropolis of Teotihuacan in the distant Valley of Mexico. There is evidence that Tikal was conquered by Teotihuacan in the 4th century AD. Following the end of the Late Classic Period, no new major monuments were built at Tikal and there is evidence that elite palaces were burned. These events were coupled with a gradual population decline, culminating with the site’s abandonment by the end of the 10th century.
Tikal is the best understood of any of the large lowland Maya cities, with a long dynastic ruler list, the discovery of the tombs of many of the rulers on this list and the investigation of their monuments, temples and palaces

RECEPTILIUM is a Hi-Tech audio-visual interactive project and performance act in which the human body and emotions are used as a communication medium, or a musical instrument that produces audio content – music when performing an analogue visual artwork, drawing visualisation of universal sound. Visitors have the opportunity to experience and attend to the creation of a visual artwork while listening to audio content as a result of the creation process. During the production of an analogue visual artwork, brain waves followed by EEG and physical motion data from hands are transmitted and converted into sounds that together form an ambient audio record connected to real-time generative visual projected on the wall. The purpose of this act is, to present the oldest language of our existence – the blueprint of the stardust; to seduce the audience with meditative movements and sounds that poetically reflects the surface of the Moon.
First demo version of the performance RECEPTILIUM lasted 4 hours at Sounded Bodies Festival on 12th October 2018. The presentation concept is in development and will be setup differently for upcoming events.

A crocheted poppy at the Goulbourn Museum in Stittsville (Ottawa), Ontario, Canada.
Built in 1872, the building currently known as the Goulbourn Museum used to be the old Town Hall. Despite being the size of a one-room school house this popular community hub was home to council meetings, parties and dances. The adjacent History Centre building was built in 1961 and was the former Clerks building. Now it is used to store the artefact collection, as office space, and to hold meetings and research appointments.
The Goulbourn Museum is home to interactive and hands-on exhibitions such as The 100th Regiment of Foot about the soldiers who settled Goulbourn Township in 1818 after the War of 1812-1814; The Village Store where kids can dress up as pioneers and shop or barter for supplies; as well as exhibits about early Goulbourn settlers, the communities in the Township, and local services. The Museum is located just south of Stittsville at Stanley’s Corners.

Props to these protestors for standing out and interacting with the public instead of being part of the private clusters inside the park.
As for the messages, many people I know who support OWS claimed that capitalism should be replaced entirely, not realizing that there's nothing explicit where cronyism must be a part of it and depressions are a natural part of an economic cycle. That's the danger of not having official PR people where even the overall tone can be different between individuals.
The second ADD message won't garner too much sympathy from most immigrants and blue collar workers I know because it has an air of entitlement to it.
While the previous messages are debatable, the final message is my favorite. Actually ideas can be pepper sprayed, but in the process Lt. John Pike became a meme that has gone well beyond OWS. In the US people who are peacefully non-compliant can't be legally tazed or sprayed, unless for example they are a danger to people and property or are actively resisting such as kicking. Law enforcement officers of course are legally able to physically haul them off when requested by a property owner. Everyone who argued for respecting property rights and even OWS supporters haven't mentioned this to me personally in their impassioned arguments, and all of us should be ashamed for not knowing our rights.
