I happen to be in a woman's walk-in closet the other day (How I got there with a camera in hand is not important right now) but more interesting to me than the wall of shoes was the display of hats.

La Calycopis demonassa es una mariposa de la familia Lycaenidae, subfamilia Theclinae y tribu Eumaeini, que vimos en la reserva de fauna salvaje Kaukitá, Pereira.
Algunos datos de interés:
En Colombia tenemos el 20.8% de todas las especies de mariposas del mundo, que son 18.771.
De la familia Lycaenidae hay 91 géneros en Colombia. De todos los géneros de mariposas que tenemos en el país (777), 11.71% pertenecen a esta familia.
En Colombia contamos con 490 especies de la familia Lycaenidae, que representan el 12.55% de las especies de mariposas de Colombia (3.904).
La familia Lycaenidae tiene en el planeta 5.201 especies que representan el 27.71% de todas las especies de mariposas del mundo, que ya dijimos, son 18.771.
Nuestro país aloja en su territorio el 9.42% de los Lycaenidae del planeta.
En Colombia hay 481 especies de la subfamilia Theclinae y todas pertenecen a la tribu Eumaeini.

Cuando la página de learnaboutbutterflies estaba activa pude encontrar que "casi todas las especies neotropicales de Theclinae se incluyen en los Eumaeini. La tribu no está especialmente bien representada en las colecciones, por lo que hasta hace poco tiempo un alto porcentaje permanecía sin estudiar y se archivaba inapropiadamente en el género "de conveniencia" Thecla. Muchos taxónomos han intentado racionalizar la sistemática de los Eumaeini, siendo el más reciente Robbins, que publicó una revisión en 2004, reclasificando los taxones en 83 géneros. Actualmente se conocen 1058 especies. Teniendo en cuenta su pequeño tamaño, su comportamiento sigiloso y las grandes similitudes entre muchas especies, se estima que probablemente queden por descubrir unas 200 especies más".
"El género Calycopis comprende 72 especies, distribuidas de forma diversa desde México hasta Paraguay. Los machos de la mayoría de las especies tienen la parte superior de color azul metálico, mientras que las hembras, en la mayoría de los casos, tienden a ser de un color marrón terroso apagado. Ambos sexos de todas las especies de Calycopis tienen márgenes exteriores convexos en las alas delanteras. Las partes inferiores llevan una línea oscura postmediana y, por lo general, una corta línea vertical al final del área discal. Las alas traseras tienen una línea postmedia ondulada de forma distintiva, y la mayoría de las especies tienen una o dos manchas rojas centradas en negro en el torno. Las alas traseras también tienen 3 colas cortas con puntas blancas".
"Calycopis demonassa y su pariente cercano, buphonia, son inusuales porque sus alas inferiores son de color pardo en lugar del típico gris de otras especies de Calycopis. También carecen de las habituales manchas rojas en el torno, y sus líneas de "pico de pelo" están ribeteadas con amplias bandas marrones, a diferencia de las finas líneas rojas que se encuentran en la mayoría de las demás especies. Ambos sexos de la buphonia tienen la parte superior de color marrón oscuro. Los machos de demonassa tienen las alas delanteras negruzcas, pero las traseras son de un azul violáceo iridiscente muy reflectante. Las hembras de demonassa tienen las alas delanteras de color marrón apagado y las traseras de color azul plateado pálido".
"Esta especie se conoce en Brasil y Colombia, pero probablemente también esté presente en Ecuador y Venezuela. Se encuentra en la selva tropical y en el bosque nublado a una altura de entre 400 y 1600 metros".
Estas bellas maripositas "se pasan probablemente la mayor parte de su vida a nivel del suelo o cerca de él, y se las conoce popularmente como "Groundstreaks". Parece que obtienen todo su sustento de la humedad absorbida del suelo, o de la superficie de las hojas".

86418 +87026 8902xx Oubeck Loop
The nature of the steel trains was that they ran all day and everyday - even Sundays. The trains taking the steel from Ravenscraig near Motherwell to either Shotton or Llanwern near Newport amoungst other locations.
These services ran for many years until the steel making ceased at Ravenscraig.
Inter-city liveried 86418 and 87026 stand in the Oubeck Goods Loop just south of Lancaster on a frosty February morning in 1989. You could often see the steel still steaming especially in the winter.
As the early morning mist starts to clear, RhB Class Ge 4/4"' 647 'Grüsch' is eased away from Samedan while working the Chur to St Moritz Inter Regio service IR 1121.
