The Art for Artemis project saw design and multimedia students from all over Europe submit artwork to be included on the transatlantic voyage of the European Service Module-3 that will power astronauts to the Moon.
From 24 entries from eight schools, a jury chose two pieces that will accompany the third spacecraft module on its first step forward to the Moon.
The winning teams were invited to visit the Airbus integration hall in Bremen, Germany, to sign their art that will accompany the third European Service Module on its voyage to NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, USA.
Invited were Ziba Artystone, Filip Fernström, Måns Rydh, and Edvard Norman, students of Forsbergs Advertising School in Stockholm, Sweden, and Tessa Kugel from the Beaux Arts de Paris, France

The Army Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) is a large-scale, semiannual field evaluation of network and non-network capabilities. The U.S. Army Electronic Proving Ground (USAEPG) at Fort Huachuca, Arizona, traditionally provides test and evaluation support and instrumentation to NIEs. However, with NIE 14.2, the latest evaluation, USAEPG provided the additional support of a network forensics team that made a positive impact on network troubleshooting, reliability and network protection. Gathering lessons on interactions with the test community, industry partners or units being fielded with a new technology can result in significant benefit to other programs. The European Service Module-2 for NASA’s Orion spacecraft arriving at Kennedy Space Center, USA. This is the last stopover on Earth before the made-in-Europe powerhouse takes the first astronauts around the Moon on the Artemis II mission.
An Antonov aircraft sent the module across the Atlantic in a custom-built container from Bremen, Germany. Upon arrival at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the second European Service Module (ESM-2) will be connected to the crew module. Together they form the Orion spacecraft.
The service module is a critical element for Orion – it provides propulsion, power and thermal control and will supply astronauts with water and oxygen.
Extensive testing awaits before integration with the launcher. Artemis II will be the first crewed mission to the Moon since the Apollo 17 mission in 1972.

Picket line at the entrance of Glen Echo Amusement Park in Montgomery County, Maryland July 8, 1960 calling for the park to integrate.
Pickets began June 30 and continued until the park closed in the fall.
Picketers faced harassment and counter-demonstrations by the American Nazi Party. The park's security guards, also sworn deputy sheriffs of the county, also harassed the picketers.
But the nearby community of Bannockburn rallied to the picketers side and helped maintain the line. They were joined by other activists and some elected officials during the summer.
Police arrested a number of protestors for trespassing. On one occasion, five entered the park and sat on the merry-go-round until they were arrested.
The trespassing cases were ultimately overturned in court.
The park, facing lawsuits, political pressure and renewed picketing, integrated on opening day 1961.

Mark Borthwick is among the generation of photographers who in the ’90s broke through the conventions of fashion photography. Integrating elements of architecture and design, he has developed a very personal and intuitive style, and knows how to turn a static photo into a performance.
His work is about the movement of the model, and the serendipity of accidental clutter is as important to his images as the garments. This book showcases over 200 images from Borthwick’s best fashion editorials, celebrity portraits, and advertising work, as well as excerpts from his personal journals. The journal pages, consisting of Polaroids, sketches, and notes on shoots, reveal the workings of a photographer’s mind - the "behind the scenes" of the makings of a fashion image.
Mark Borthwick’s work regularly appears in magazines such as i-D, Interview, Italian Vogue, and Purple. His photographs have been exhibited around the world and featured in art magazines such as Artforum and Flash Art. Borthwick lives in Brooklyn, New York.

Breakout Session: Everyone Can Play: Sports as a Catalyst for Development & Integration
Nelson Mandela once said, "Sport has the power to change the world… It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. It speaks to youth in a language they understand…”
Sports programs are valuable tools for development, education, health, and the integration of youth and vulnerable populations—yet they are often underfunded and under-resourced, exacerbating participation barriers for many individuals worldwide but particularly for those living in developing countries. The obstacles to playing sports are even greater for those with disabilities, girls and women, and the LGBT community, causing them to bypass meaningful opportunities to increase self-esteem, life skills, and community integration. It is in the interest of actors across sectors to work together to break down barriers and boost worldwide participation in sports to ensure that everyone can play.
In this session, leaders from the private, public, and nonprofit sectors will discuss how CGI members can:
• Develop long-term financing solutions for sustainable sports initiatives—particularly in developing and low-income regions.
• Increase and improve non-monetary resources for sports, such as safe environments and access to equipment, coaches, and inclusive community programs.
• Support partnerships that enable sports to bridge cultural and ethnic divides, promote tolerance and non-discrimination, and reinforce social unification.

As part of the Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) 18.2 Validation Exercise conducted earlier this month, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, the Army ensured that its on-the-move tactical network transport equipment was fully integrated and operational. The Army’s unified tactical network enables uninterrupted mission command and secure reliable voice, video and data communications worldwide, at every stage of the joint operational spectrum. Supported by Soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, the Army will conduct NIE 18.2 during the first two weeks of November 2018, at Fort Bliss, Texas.
