“Space that reflects culture” is the end goal for the Puyallup Tribe. Not only will they be able to obtain cultural responsbility, but they will also achieve environmental responsibility saving significantly in their operating costs by using Premier Structural Insulated Panels (SIPS) to frame (walls & roof) the tribe’s new ten-unit multi-family housing complex.
Traditionally, Coast Salish tribes lived in longhouses with a shared central space and dwelling units off to the side. Architect Environmental Works used this living tradition as an inspiration and created a structure with ten town-homes that are separated from each other by a courtyard with an open, slanted shed roof. Units on one side have one bedroom and units on the other side have two bedrooms. Entryways are in the courtyard, which also provides common space.

I was trying out the insulated Ethel Gloves yesterday while doing a bit of winter gardening. I'm testing them out for them so they can make changes as needed. I figured harvesting my beets in 20 degree weather would be a perfect test.
That's right. This soft sided bag has "Polartherm" insulation, just enough padding to retain its shape, and even a mesh pocket under the lid. It was designed to hold ice... and up to 12 cans of chilled soda or beer.
I came across the bag in my local supermarket while shopping for the basics earlier today (milk, bread, coffee and catfood) and I immediately knew that the dimensions would fit the bike perfectly.
I always measure clearences so I will have the actual size in the back of my mind - precisely for the chance finds of bags like this which had never been made for the purpose. If you don't keep an open mind for your bike need, you would be as limited as if you were to shop only in bike shops to find a simple 5 mm. metric bolt.

One of the local buzzards having a look round from a lamp post beside the dead-end road leading to the float glass works at Greengate. The insulated legs were visible as the buzzard had just lifted its tail to defecate.

The Titahi Bay Transmitter is New Zealand's second tallest structure. It is an AM transmitter with a 212 meter tall radio mast insulated against ground at Titahi Bay in New Zealand.[1] There are now five stations transmitting from the site, Radio New Zealand National, the parliamentary network, Newstalk ZB, an Iwi radio station and Wellington Access Radio; see List of radio stations in New Zealand and Radio Stations in Wellington.
In 2004 the tower was refurnished, badly corroded parts were removed and replaced, the whole tower was sand blasted and repainted, and an array of LED warning lights were added at the behest of the NZCAA.
According to workers refurbishing it, scaling the tower takes 45 minutes. From the top there are views of the entire Kapiti coast region.
The site used to provide Radio New Zealand's shortwave service, these broadcasts used a series of shorter free standing masts supporting curtain arrays.
The land surrounding the tower is owned by the Department of Conservation, and is leased to Radio NZ for the transmitting towers, to the local Titahi Golf Club, and as farm land. The site is located within Whitirea Park, and is planned to come under the control of the Greater Wellington Regional Council.
Interestingly, only in recent years has the station's emergency power generator been replaced. The previous one was supplied by the American military after the Second World War, and was part of the driving machinery of a submarine which was no longer required.
The site was never used for overseas telephone links, which (before the advent of undersea cables and satellites) were provided by two New Zealand Post Office radio stations, Makara Radio (receiving) west of Wellington and Himitangi Radio (transmitting) near Himatangi Beach. Only a limited number of voice circuits were available, and overseas toll calls were expensive.

One of a number of technical brochures issued by BICC - British Insulated Callender's Construction Company Limited relating to their work on railway electrification schemes. This, Publication 13, was issued in February 1953 and looks at schemes undertaken by BICC (and its predecessor companies) both in the UK and abroad over previous years.
Needless to say much is made of the work BICC carried out on the two war-delayed electrifications that had been started by the LNER and that were completed in post-war years by the newly nationalised British Railways, these being the Manchester - Sheffield and London (Liverpool Street) - Shenfield schemes. Both were completed to what had been the UK's 'standard' - 1500v DC but within a few years of this booklet being published the British Transport Commission had decided to standardise on the 25kV AC system and BICC were to be heavily involved in this going forward. The booklet also looks at various overseas schemes BICC worked on notably in India, South Africa, South America and Poland.
