Previously unpublished shot from February 2018. Although the weather right now in Scotland is unseasonably mild, I can fully appreciate the need for such a furry hat to cover the ears. I usually have to pull a beanie tight over my ears when shooting winter streets in Glasgow. Enjoy!

There may be a day or two this week that are below the average temperature for this time of year in the UK. June, however, was entirely above average in temperature and at some points 10 degrees Celsius above average. Climate chaos will only increase as the North Atlantic jet stream is destabilised by simultaneous increases in ocean temperature and decreases in arctic sea ice extent.
Take care everyone.
I took this in mid Summer in Iceland. it looks very cold even then. The grass makes good insulation in this colourful house.

Previously unpublished archive shot from November 2019 and timely with the first properly cold blast of winter coming in from the East this week. Oh, and the shot got photobombed by a pigeon too! Wishing you all a great weekend of photography - wrap up warm!
Bearded Tits / Reedlings have to stay warm throughout the winter in the reedbed, so can really puff up their feathers to retain heat.
Taken on a misty morning.
On a recent walk we came across this small, old farmhouse near Jabbeke, West-Flanders, Belgium. They look romantic, these old farms, but they are not ideal to live in as they are not at all insulated to modern standards. There are few left now: mostly they are sold and renovated (at best), but often little is left of the original house.
Plastic insulated screwdriver shanks are an electrician's friend. Less risk for shocks and electrocutions when you use these tools around electrical equipment. Always disable and lockout electrical equipment regardless of how well your tools are made for the job.

Colour re-edit of a shot from January 2019. Enjoy!
Temperatures here in the Driftless Region have been way below normal for the past week now and the weather feels more like January than December. Luckily, this little American goldfinch has a good insulating layer of feathers to keep it warm.
Like most of the mid-west we have had an unusually warm February. However, there were still a couple of fair-sized chunks of un-melted shelf ice, buried (insulated) under the sand and gravel on the beach here.
The rose color in the sky only lasted for just a few moments. The actual sunrise, fifteen or so minutes later was mostly blocked by the cloud bank. Have a wonderful weekend.

Candid eye contact street photography from Glasgow, Scotland. Despite a little motion blur from his head movement, the rest being sharp, I still love the shot and the eye contact being given. Enjoy!
I had this filed away in the "B" file boxes of slides years ago. But now after 40 years I like it more than I did back then. I guess since the engine was front coupled it was edited out of the "A" file. Anyway, while the Minneapolis Northfield & Southern SW1200 looks great, the BN insulated box car with ACI label on one end and the Atlantic Coast Line box car on the other are neat elements that were just everyday things back then.
What was fiberglass insulation now hangs down from ceiling beams, moist with mold and natural decay, as the building surrounding it slowly succumbs to nature's unfriendly march of time on the afternoon of January 29th, 2022, in Meadowview, VA.
