My final piece for my personal investigation is an installation utilising a display board which I used to create an enclosed 'room' in order to make a small space which sums up the research and ideas I accumulated in my sketchbook. The left and right sides are filled with a pattern I created from line drawings of cameras, the back wall has Polaroid prints hanging on black thread and the floor is multiple sheets of photocopied Polaroids with increased contrast to make the background black. The cameras are from my collection hanging from a pole propped on both sides with a spotlight on them. I used my own recording of cameras flashing and focussing and used a phone flash to add sensory elements. I incorporated my theme of patterns and repetition and feel the space as a whole gives the impression of obsession quite well, inspired by a visit to the 'I Want I Want' exhibition at Birmingham Art Gallery, where multiple elements came together to create an overwhelming atmosphere.

This is an installation by Marie-Jo Lafontaine. The complete quote reads: "I am a citizen of the world, my homeland is everywhere, I'm a foreigner everywhere." It's from a letter by the humanist Erasmus of Rotterdamm to the reformer Ulrich Zwingli.
