To get to the Salton Sea from the town of Bombay Beach, you drive over a berm which was installed to protect the town from floods from the Salton Sea. These days the highly polluted (from agricultural runoff) lake has receded and is in no danger of flooding the town. However, a boat remains, covered in graffiti courtesy of Nepsi, an LA street artist.

I finished the floor and installed the bay window. And it fit! I used a method by Caroline Dupuis of Cinderella Moments for the floor...using a wash of diluted acrylic paint to give it an aged look.

The Royal Arms and Munitions Factory was a royal factory installed in the municipality of Orbaizeta, by order of Carlos III of Spain in 1784, and it remained in operation until 1884.
In the place where it was built, a foundry authorized by Blanca I of Navarra existed since 1432 to exploit the wealth of metals in the area.
For almost a century it was, together with the Royal Trubia Arms Factory, the most important industrial center of a military nature in the north of the country. It was occupied by the French, who partially destroyed it during the War of Independence. After disputes between the residents of the Aézcoa valley and the military, it ceased operations in 1884.
The historical industrial complex was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest on July 15, 2008, in the category of Monument. At present, it is included in the Red List of heritage in danger drawn up by the Hispania Nostra association.
Happy 20th birthday to Hubble’s Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph (STIS)! In February 1997, astronauts installed STIS on the telescope during the second servicing mission. The highly versatile and productive instrument combines a camera with a spectrograph, which separates light into its component colors—or wavelengths — to provide a “fingerprint” of the object being observed. This tells us about the object’s temperature, chemical composition, density, and motion. Spectrographic observations also reveal changes in celestial objects as the universe evolves. STIS has also pioneered the field of high-contrast imaging—the art of capturing faint objects (such as planets, disks, and outflowing jets) next to very bright ones (such as the stars they accompany). The instrument is sensitive to a wide range of wavelengths of light, from ultraviolet through the optical and into the near-infrared. STIS science has illuminated a multitude of different astronomical topics. Below are some examples, but this is not meant to be an exhaustive list.

I often wish I could turn back the clock to see this vantage point in 1950. The former Glen Rock hotel (directly behind the engines) has now been repurposed into apartments. The former Southern Railway yard tower stands un-used, as well as almost all of the west yard buildings in this image. A Southern Railway "Containerized Freight" rail highway trailer sits at the bottom center of the image, no doubt having spent the last 30+ years in the same spot. Barely noticeable are the cameras installed so the yard can be run remotely from Hayne yard (near Spartanburg, SC). The biggest urban travesty however lies with what cannot be seen. Between the Glen Rock and the first tankcar on the train once stood one of Southern Railway's beautiful white stucco stations built in 1905. Unfortunately it was razed in 1968, just a few years before Asheville got serious about saving it's historic buildings.
This diesel generator was purchased expecting the need for additional power for a planned new mineral concentrator in Sandon. This unit installed to run in parallel, independent or as a backup to the existing hydroelectric plant. The Blackstone Engine Company of Stamford, England was contracted to supply the engine, generators and control panels. The engine is still serviceable and runs on special occasions during the year.

Had to reinstall Skyrim cause it crashed for unknown reasons, so I was testing armors after the install, while taking screenshots!
