My first visit to see these awesome sculptures by Andy Scott at night. Such a cool place to spend a couple of hours mooching. Surprisingly busy at 9.30pm too.....
In an monumental feat of engineering, The Kelpies, two 30 metre high stainless steel sculptures, rose from the ground in 2013, towering over The Helix and the Forth & Clyde canal.
Construction of The Kelpies began on 17th June 2013. The two enormous structures were manufactured and installed by SH Structures Limited.
The build was officially completed on 27th November 2013, and was celebrated with a 'topping-out' ceremony featuring Duke and Baron, the Clydesdale life models for The Kelpies.

One Thousand Museum is a high-rise residential condominium in Miami,Florida,
United States. The building, which is located at 1000 Biscayne Boulevard, across from Museum
Park, was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The initial design was started by Zaha Hadid. Completed in 2019, the 62-story building stands at a height of 707 feet (215 m), making it one of the tallest buildings in Miami.
In early 2018, before the building was finished, an episode of PBS' Impossible Builds featured the building, which they referred to as the "Scorpion Tower", and described it as "one of the most complex skyscrapers ever to make it off the drawing board.
Designed by Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid, One Thousand Museum was Zaha Hadid's first residential tower in the Western Hemisphere, and one of the final projects designed by Hadid in her lifetime." It was designed in association with O'Donnell Dannwolf Partners Architects, a local architecture firm.
A notable feature of the building is the curving exoskeleton, allowing the interior space to have fewer columns. The exoskeleton is composed of 5,000 pieces of glass fiber reinforced concrete. These pieces were shipped from Dubai early in the construction process. The exoskeleton is located in front of a glass facade.
The building was topped out in February 2018. It contains 84 residences, consisting of a two-story duplex penthouse, 4 townhouses, 10 full-floor residences, and 70 half-floor units.
A swimming pool is installed at the top of the building, covered by a curving, faceted metal ceiling that reflects the water. The double-height space is occupied by the pool on one side and a seating area on the other. A similar metallic canopy design is used for the bar. A full two-room treatment spa, hair and beauty salon, acai and juice bar, and sunbathing area are also installed, alongside a multimedia tower.

Du 10 au 30 Août 2024, la "Rheintalbahn" est coupée dans les deux sens de circulation à hauteur de Rastatt, pour cause de travaux au niveau du futur tunnel en cours de construction. Durant cette période, des détournements sont organisés par plusieurs itinéraires et pays, afin d'écouler le trafic voyageurs, et surtout de marchandises, de cet axe ferroviaire figurant parmi les plus chargés d'Europe Occidentale.
Une partie du trafic de marchandises se voit ainsi déviée par Wörth, et la ligne non-électrifiée permettant de rejoindre la France par le point frontalier de Lauterbourg, puis la région de Strasbourg, Kehl et enfin Offenburg. Durant toute la période, des navettes sont organisées avec des BB75100 de la SNCF et G1206 de CAPTRAIN, dépêchées sur place pour l'occasion. Au total, ce sont près de 400 trains qui transiteront par cet itinéraire alternatif en trois semaines.
Beaucoup plus discrètes que les Prima, les G1206 de CAPTRAIN ne seront apparus que rarement en ligne durant la période des détournements. Le 20 Août, le 61581 assure un aller-retour entre Offenburg et Wörth, et est vu ici lors du trajet retour vers le sud, acheminant une Vectron aux couleurs du loueur Railpool, et une rame bloc de conteneurs GTS. L'ensemble franchit ici les installations de Roeschwoog, situé à l'intersection entre la ligne Lauterbourg - Strasbourg, et l'ancienne ligne Haguenau - Rastatt, abandonnée depuis de nombreuses années déjà . De cette dernière, seuls subsistent de nos jours quelques kilomètres de voies, depuis le village de Roeschwoog jusqu'à l'usine Roquette implantée sur la commune de Beinheim, et dont la voie disparait sur la droite sur la photo.

In June 2010, the Spruce Summer Garden Festival was held in Riga. The festival was dedicated to the 500th anniversary of the Christian tradition of installing a decorated Christmas tree.
Variously decorated Christmas trees were installed in four districts of the Old Riga. They stood until the beginning of New 2011.

Installation of a new Antenna Tower in Edmond, Oklahoma. These guys are installing bolts to a new section that was just added.
Après avoir exposé à Anvers et à Venise, en 1999, l'entreprise a déménagé dans une nouvelle maison connue sous le nom de Kanaal, située à Wijnegem, à vingt minutes à l'est d'Anvers. Construit à l'origine en 1857, le vaste site était un ancien complexe de distillerie et de maltage. L'architecture existante comprenait des entrepôts en briques et des silos à grains en béton situés le long des rives du canal Albert.
Le développement initial du Kanaal comprenait l'installation des bureaux et des studios de l'entreprise. Cela a été rapidement suivi par l'acquisition d'installations artistiques permanentes, telles que celle d'Anish Kapoor, Au bord du monde. Un plan a été conçu pour faire de Kanaal un centre culturel et résidentiel, un processus qui a commencé au début des années 2000.
Les plans de transformation du site se sont appuyés sur le caractère et l'histoire des bâtiments d'origine pour donner à l'ensemble du quartier un nouveau souffle authentique. C'est un trait central de beaucoup de nos projets. En 2017, la galerie anversoise déménage dans un nouvel espace au Kanaal, ouvrant par une rétrospective monumentale de Kazuo Shiraga.
Le premier programme de la galerie comprenait une spécialité dans l'art d'après-guerre et contemporain avec un accent particulier sur l'art d'Europe, du Japon et de Corée, en particulier l'art des mouvements ZERO et Gutai. L'accent mis sur Dansaekhwa a suivi, alors que le programme de la galerie et sa participation à des foires d'art mondiales ont pris de l'importance et que sa liste d'artistes s'est élargie.
After exhibiting in Antwerp and Venice, in 1999 the company moved to a new house known as Kanaal, located in Wijnegem, twenty minutes east of Antwerp. Originally built in 1857, the sprawling site was a former distillery and malting complex. The existing architecture included brick warehouses and concrete grain silos located along the banks of the Albert Canal.
The initial development of the Kanaal included the installation of corporate offices and studios. This was quickly followed by the acquisition of permanent art installations, such as Anish Kapoor's At the Edge of the World. A plan has been devised to make Kanaal a cultural and residential center, a process that began in the early 2000s.
The site's transformation plans have built on the character and history of the original buildings to give the whole area an authentic new lease of life. This is a central feature of many of our projects. Dick Vervoordt led an ambitious plan to combine the efforts of three teams of architects - Bogdan & Van Broeck, Coussée & Goris, Stéphane Beel - with landscaper Michel Desvigne. Quality of life was a top priority and plans were made to adapt the design from the inside out, converting old buildings into new living and working spaces.
In 2017, the Antwerp gallery moved to a new space at Kanaal, opening with a monumental retrospective of Kazuo Shiraga.
The gallery's first program included a specialty in post-war and contemporary art with a particular focus on art from Europe, Japan and Korea, particularly art from the ZERO and Gutai movements. The focus on Dansaekhwa followed, as the gallery's program and its participation in global art fairs grew in importance and its roster of artists grew.
Suite à la pluviosité de ces derniers jours, les épreuves de triathlon des Jeux Paralympiques prévues ce dimanche ont été reportées à demain.. si la qualité de l'eau du fleuve le permet. La décision a été prise à 4h cette nuit et nous étions un certain nombre ce matin à l'apprendre seulement sur place. Par chance (ou malchance? ) il faisait très beau bien que brumeux à 8h du matin. L'occasion pour moi de faire une balade sur la berge qui avait été ouverte aux promeneurs, une balade insolite aux alentours du pont Alexandre III, avec les installations du triathlon.

This was my first visit since the causeway was altered and a bridge installed and it’s a big improvement, especially the removal of the big car park that used to be at the foot of the island.
A Palazzo Reale di Milano, nella Sala delle Cariatidi, è stata allestita una installazione. Si tratta di una serie di pali illuminati da luci blu che disegnano una palizzata all'interno della quale diversi monitor trasmettono immagini delle opere d'arte presenti nei musei milanesi. Un'idea suggestiva in un ambiente già suggestivo da sè.

A month in which I rebuilt my laptop so it could handle the latest version of Photoshop. And the rest of the month I have been beginning to learn it!
So this is the first attempt at creating my usual monthly collage. I have tried to keep the pattern quite similar, though I haven't yet installed all my fonts, or learnt all I need.
It meant I spent quite some time looking through the archives, and finding shots I'd forgotten. I think I'll continue that and see what else I can find.
It has been a month of constant rain following Storm Babet with Aberdeenshire badly hit. So not the time to go walking and shooting outdoors ... more indoor subjects were the focus of my lenses.

[ENG] The Collegiate Church of Santa MarÃa la Mayor de Alquézar, has its origin in the Arab castle built in the ninth century on top of a rocky ridge surrounded by ravines located in Alquézar (Huesca, Spain), which after its conquest in 1067 by Sancho RamÃrez becomes a Christian fortress, and in 1099, when military needs were overcome by the progress of the Reconquest, a community of Augustinian canons was installed, building a Romanesque collegiate church, which in the 16th century was replaced by Another gothic that endures today. They emphasise: in the cloister the Romanesque capitals of the thirteenth century and the mural paintings of the fourteenth to eighteenth centuries, in the church the rib vault, the Renaissance main altarpiece (XVI century), a Romanesque Christ and the baroque organ. [ESP] Junto al coro destaca un órgano barroco del siglo XVI que se conserva en perfecto estado, y que está considerado como uno de los más valiosos de Aragón.
La iglesia actual se construyó en el siglo XVI por Juan de Segura ampliando la anterior románica longitudinalmente por la cabecera y por los pies. Es una sola nave cubierta con bóveda estrellada, y posteriormente se fueron añadiendo capillas en el siglo XVII, la de San Nicostrato excavada en la roca para dar cobijo al cráneo del mártir romano, la de la Virgen del Rosario, la de San Juan Bautista decorada en estilo barroco, y la del Santo Cristo sufragada por la familia Lecina. El coro se sitúa a los pies del templo y cuenta con un extraordinario órgano.
La Colegiata de Santa MarÃa la Mayor de Alquézar, tiene su origen en el castillo árabe construido en el siglo IX en lo alto de una cresta rocosa rodeado de barrancos situada en Alquézar (Huesca, España), que tras su conquista en 1067 por Sancho RamÃrez pasa a ser fortaleza cristiana, y en 1099, superadas las necesidades militares por el avance de la Reconquista, se instaló una comunidad de canónigos agustinos, construyéndose una iglesia colegiata románica, que en el siglo XVI se sustituyó por otra tardogótica que perdura en la actualidad.

Bien sûr c'est un extrait pour zoomer sur le Street Art, mais c'est assez grand.
La cité Aubry. En lisant ce nom, vous avez peut-être imaginé des tours grisâtres, des esplanades bétonnées, un lieu mal fréquenté… En réalité, la cité Aubry est une petite rue pavée dans le 20e arrondissement de Paris, dans laquelle les habitants se sont réapproprié un terrain pour y installer un jardin partagé. Ces jardins collectifs deviennent de plus en plus populaires en Île-de-France !
La cité Aubry est une ancienne cité ouvrière. Au 19e siècle, Paris avait conservé une organisation moyenâgeuse : rues étroites, insalubres, qualité de l’air médiocre. C’est à cette période que le préfet Haussmann transforme totalement la ville pour la moderniser, à travers la création de grands boulevards et avenues, de parcs et jardins (parc des Buttes-Chaumont, parc Montsouris, etc). Évidemment, cette révolution urbaine n’est pas sans conséquence pour la population : les loyers de la capitale explosent et les ouvriers ne parviennent plus à s’y loger.
Une volonté délibérée d’Haussmann, qui expliquait que le coût élevé de la vie était bien pratique pour « défendre Paris contre l’invasion des ouvriers de la province ». C’est à ce moment là que des cités ouvrières ont vu le jour. Dans le 20e, on trouvait ainsi la cité Aubry et la Villa Riberolle. En général, un riche industriel investissait dans un terrain et y installait non seulement sa production (ateliers) mais aussi des logements pour ses travailleurs.
Aujourd’hui, on peut dire que les tendances se sont inversées : ces petites ruelles pavées à l’atmosphère intimiste sont souvent plus prisées que les grands immeubles haussmanniens ! La cité Aubry a conservé ce mélange entre l’époque ouvrière et ses logements de bric et de broc… et des constructions récentes.
Il y a un peu plus d’un an, les habitants ont récupéré le terrain d’une usine désaffectée et ont commencé à l’aménager pour en faire un jardin partagé. Le principe : il comporte des lopins de terre communs, sur lesquels chacun peut planter ce qu’il veut et se servir… et quelques parcelles individuelles où, là aussi, chacun fait ce qui lui plaît. On trouve aussi bien des fleurs que des salades, des herbes aromatiques que des fraises, des plantes carnivores que des fèves.
Ajoutez à tout ça du street art, des brouettes, des chaises… et vous obtenez une ambiance unique !
Les habitants y organisent des apéros, des barbeuks... J'y retournerai au printemps quand il sera fleuri, c'est au bout de ma rue.
On dirait que j'ai besoin de campagne moi :-) ça tombe bien, c'est pour dans 15 jours :-)))

Sep. 8, 2024: Students, staff, and volunteers installed The Waves of Flags 9/11 memorial at Pepperdine University yesterday. The nearly 3,000 flags are in memory of people killed in the terrorist attack on Sep. 11, 2001. The flags are displayed at the corner of Pacific Coast Highway and Malibu Canyon Road through Sep. 27, 2024.
There was little wind, so I created this intentional camera movement image with a neutral density filter and 1/6th sec exposure. #priceless #flickrFriday
33051+33030 pass North Acton central line station with 7V54 0852 Angerstein Wharf - Paddington Sidings on 18th February 1998. LUL had just installed a turnback platform between the Eastbound and Westbound platforms here. The Eastbound line was laid on the trackbed of the former GWR link from the West London line at Viaduct Junction to North Acton. I believe the track bed that the 33sare on is now mothballed as part of HS2 works at Old Oak Common.

New to Kent & Surrey at Gillingham, before transferring to Northfleet via Maidstone for a repaint and modifications for Fastrack to be installed.
A 2001 installed bronze sculpture "Numbers are the Language of Nature" on Domain Walk in Auckland Domain.
The sculpture is by Italian born artist Chiara Corbelletto, a graduate of Modigliani Art School, Novara, in 1973 and gained a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Milan, 1979.
In 1981 Corbelletto moved to New Zealand.
For this sculpture Corbelletto used the concept of tessellation, a pattern created by repeating a shape over a surface.
Corbelletto fashioned a three dimensional form made up of twenty identical bronze modules.
