The Covered Market is a historic market with permanent stalls and shops in a large covered structure in central Oxford, England.
The market is located to the north of the High Street towards the western end between Cornmarket Street and Turl Street. To the north is Market Street. Most of the entrances are from the High Street and Market Street (with four entrances from each street). It is also possible to gain access from Cornmarket via the Golden Cross alley, with its small up-market shops.
The Covered Market was officially opened on 1 November 1774 and is still active today. Located in Oxford, England, the Covered Market was started in response to a general wish to clear 'untidy, messy and unsavoury stalls' from the main streets of central Oxford.
John Gwynn, the architect of Magdalen Bridge, drew up the plans and designed the High Street front with its four entrances. In 1772, the newly formed Market committee, half of whose members came from the town and half from the university, accepted an estimate of nine hundred and sixteen pounds ten shillings, for the building of twenty butchers' shops.
Twenty more soon followed, and after 1773 meat was allowed to be sold only inside the market. From this nucleus the market grew, with stalls for garden produce, pig meat, dairy products and fish.
Today the covered market is still home to numerous traders, around half of which are food retailers, including traditional market shops selling fresh food such as greengrocers and butchers (including some who produce the distinctive, local Oxford sausage). There are also newer gift shops, bakeries and sandwich shops. Most of the shops now are quite a bit larger than the original stall sizes, and so the number of businesses in the covered market is smaller than in the past. It is a bustling area, especially on Saturdays.
The Covered Market may be accessed via the four entrances on the High Street, via Golden Cross (from Cornmarket), and from three entrances on Market Street.
In 2012/2013 Oxford City Council embarked on a process of rent increases. Much protested against[1] by the market traders, these rises have in some cases been in excess of 50%.
The closure of Palm's Delicatessen and Chocology has been linked to these increases. The Palm's Delicatessen unit was empty for two years, then occupied by an outlet of national greetings cards chain Cards Galore. This has caused concern amongst traders, as it is in direct violation of the Market's policy of leasing to independent traders.

Very impressive inside the Priory, this was a real suprise being in such a small village off the main roads. Shame the window isn't clearer and maybe its a bit dark but it is a church so there. The floor was cool.

The first courtyard was designed in 1453 by Michelozzo. In the lunettes, high around the courtyard, are crests of the Church and City Guilds. In the center, the porphyry fountain is by Battista del Tadda. The Putto with Dolphin on top of the basin is a copy of the original by Andrea del Verrocchio (1476), now on display on the second floor of the palace. This small statue was originally placed in the garden of the villa of the Medici in Careggi. The water, flowing through the nose of the dolphin, is brought here by pipes from the Boboli Gardens.
In the niche, in front of the fountain, stands Samson and Philistine by Pierino da Vinci.
First courtyardThe frescoes on the walls, representing scenes of the Austrian Habsburg estates, were painted in 1565 by Giorgio Vasari for the wedding celebration of Francesco I de' Medici, the eldest son of Cosimo I de' Medici, and Johanna of Austria, sister of the Emperor Maximilian. The harmoniously proportioned columns, at one time smooth, and untouched, were at the same time richly decorated with gilt stuccoes. The barrel vaults are furnished with grotesque decorations.
Jackson Hole - so many bars, so little time!
A visit to Jackson, Wyoming, would not be complete unless one sits in a saddle at the Million Dollar Cowboy Bar(a). For me, I enjoy sipping Jack Daniel’s Single Barrel Whiskey(b) and just enjoying the atmosphere.
I have several friends in other states that have sat in these saddles and done the same thing. I hope, one day, that we might be able to enjoy a visit together - sitting in the saddle, sipping Jack, and pondering old times among good friends.
The bar has a fascinating history(c) and is the subject of a number of books - one of which is “The Cocktail Hour in Jackson Hole,” by Donald Hough (Norton, 1953)

a. Various and sundry global and local level adjustments to tone down the magnificence of this famous bar - otherwise the ooooo-factor would have blown out the image. As it was, hard drive space had to be increased to accommodate the scale of the work.

The Lloyd's building (known as the Inside-Out Building) is the home of the insurance institution Lloyd's of London. It is located on the former site of East India House in Lime Street, in London's main financial district, the City of London. The building is a leading example of radical Bowellism architecture in which the services for the building, such as ducts and lifts, are located on the exterior to maximise space in the interior. Twenty-five years after completion in 1986, the building received Grade I listing in 2011; it was the youngest structure ever to obtain this status.

Sandy in one of her preferred places. She has several and I only know some of the obvious reasons why one is chosen over another. Like this spot, it's Frodo's favorite place, so if he's there, he's there. Although if he leaves room I've seen them share. And that chair back there, she likes that too. And other places. This is also my spot, so if I enter the room with the intent to sit, which she can somehow sense, she will politely rise and move over a few feet, knowing I like to rest my hand on her haunch, or rub her soft ears, and I thank her for keeping my seat warm. In any case, she likes her comforts and she likes to be inside.

It had been awhile since I was inside Varnum's Headquarters. It was sunny but cold today and shooting inside an historic structure in Valley Forge was way better than shooting outside.
I can't help render these scenes in a painterly fashion. They feel so warm in the winter.
Read from the boards that IT is indeed shutting her mouth up... the sultriest mouth in all of FR, now being closed... guess she and and Vanessa knew too much from the inside... and Kesenia maybe, the whistle blower (though im kinda interested what sound tht gaping mouth can produce, and im sure it's more than a whistle LOLs)
So last week I met Brandon and we discussed a shoot about two days ago. We didn't really have much of an idea of what to do other than take photos of him dressed up with a pool table at his house.
The weather was horrible and I was totally out of my comfort zone shooting inside plus strobing isn't something I've really done before. Luckily, I've assisted plenty of shoots in my friend's studio that I knew a little. This was my first photoshoot of my own where I used artificial lighting and I'm quite pleased with the results. Hope you guys are too!
This is the first of many photos and I plan on having a full blog set up soon! Big thanks to my buddies Henderson and Sam for helping me out by letting me use their strobes!

My dear Aria got new body. I can't believe that I can love her even more! ♥
I love how dainty she has become. I am also glad that this outfit fits SDGr body. It used to fit only Unon. But now more girls can share this lovely outfit. ^__^
This is my mini fail attempt to take a sexy picture of Aria. She is too shy and refused to show any more of her skin. I bet if this was Arie, she is more than willing to show more. That girl is never once shy. :P
Also can be viewed in full size here!

I wasn't able to tag everyone I wanted so please consider yourself tagged if you see this photo. Thanks!
What is it that we are all looking for? Is it someone to love with all of the love we can muster up inside of ourselves? Is that the dream that we all dream? To find someone who will love us will all of the passion in their heart? Someone who will reciprocate the love that we give to them in every way?
Or is it really that we long to be appreciated for who we are... for what we are... for what we have overcome and for what we have achieved?
As I mature in years and in wisdom I understand that it's not too difficult a proposition to fall in love... it's more challenging to maintain that love and to keep the fire of pasion burning and the flames stoked with the growing together that results from the soft and tender shared moments in life... as I come to understand so much more about myself and the world... what I have come to understand is more than the quest for love... that obtaining a partner who appreciates you deeply and sincerely is the 'holy grail' of relationships.
There is no satisfaction so deep as to open yourself up to another human being in complete honesty and to have that person truly appreciate you.
To be appreciated is to be loved.
This morning's pictures have a story!
Last month while visiting Hastings I came across a shopping centre I had never seen before. I entered it and I loved the ceiling and took the two pictures you see here. I'm not a great shopper so after about ten minutes of trailing around I decided to leave. My exit was immediately barred by two heavies and after a quick walkie-talkie call a third man came up and accosted me. He was wearing a suit and I decided he was a time-share seller so I turned my ears off. He was very persistent and I realised he was asking me why I had been taking photos. I said because that is what I like to do. Then he started waffling on about "in this climate" and I was wondering whether he meant there was some special air-conditioning in there or whether he was referring to global warming. I said I had no idea what he was talking about (which I genuinely did not). He then spelled out that in this climate of terrorism it was not a good idea to take pictures and how could he know I was not a terrorist. He had to see what I had taken on the camera. I was astounded and he interpreted my expression correctly and said - it probably sounds silly! At last I could agree heartily with him! I was finally allowed to leave the centre with warnings not to try this again!
What a sad world this has become where paranoia reigns over common sense!
I challenge anybody who is near Hastings and who longs for a little excitement in their life to take pictures inside the Priory Meadow shopping centre! Location here.....

You will make three bored men feel very important!!!

At Priory Meadow all areas are constantly monitored by Closed Circuit TV for the purposes of public safety and crime prevention. Customer service staff patrol throughout the day. Please tell them if you have any problems - they are trained to help customers in every way.
Hope some of you like the ceiling as much as I did!!!
Best viewed LARGE!
Well I'm about done with Photoshop forever!! 3 days this has taken me, obviously not a full 72 hours but about 16 spread across 3 days and I've just had enough of this piccy now and couldn't do another thing!!
Contest piccy for FP's "Into Darkness" over at SCF. Had to reproduce a work of art but make like zombies. I chose Young Woman Drawing by Villers.
Original here -
upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/5/5a/Villers_Young...
Every part of it is either ingame or drawn. The background is 99% taken in game but made up of different parts except the sky which is a simple gradient, part of the window was drawn though as I couldn't find ingame windows similar, plus I did the glass and the dirt. The texture on the walls and floor were added with grunge brushes and of course there's some use of the burn tool to darken everything.
Pose is franked and then chopped slightly to match the shape of the original, as the dress covered so much of the body the pose was easier than normal below the dress it is a mess!
Dress, hair and drawing board is drawn, as is the chair and blanket. The dress took an extremely long time, but I felt it really stood out in the original so I wanted to get it as perfect as I could, it's not spot on but I copied the original very closely and used the grid to make sure the shape was precise.
I drew the shape of the dress with the polygonal tool then flood filled the shape with a medium grey colour picked from the original dress with the colour picker, it gives a nice base for highlighting and burning if you choose a medium colour instead of all light or all dark.
All the light shading is done using the dodge brush at different exposures, working on seperate layers and continually merging down to build it up. The dark shading is done with a dark shade of grey and a small, round ,soft brush and then smudging it in between the highlights.
I wanted both a normal version and zombie, so I finished the normal version first and then zombified it afterwards, all the zombie stuff is drawn too just on different layers, one for the skin and one for the dress.
The dress was just duplicated, selected to get the shape, filled with brown grunge brushes on a new layer, set to overlay and then smudged. Dead easy!
The skin was done using a colour overlay with a green tinge. Added the cracks using a brush. Made the holes in the arm with a small round black brush. Put the bones in the holes and added an inner shadow to make them look "inside", added some darkened blood and smudged it a bit. Drew over the eyes and dodged the centre to make them brighter then drew around in red and smudged it. (for the person who PM'd me asking for an explanation, hope it helps a little!)

Palazzo Pitti, Firenze.

The Palatine Gallery, on the first floor of the piano nobile, contains a large ensemble of over 500 principally Renaissance paintings, which were once part of the Medicis' and their successors' private art collection. The gallery, which overflows into the royal apartments, contains works by Raphael, Titian, Perugino (Lamentation over the Dead Christ), Correggio, Peter Paul Rubens, and Pietro da Cortona. The character of the gallery is still that of a private collection, and the works of art are displayed and hung much as they would have been in the grand rooms for which they were intended rather than following a chronological sequence, or arranged according to school of art.
The finest rooms were decorated by Pietro da Cortona in the high baroque style. Initially Cortona frescoed a small room on the piano nobile called the Sala della Stufa with a series depicting the Four Ages of Man which were very well-received; the Age of Gold and Age of Silver were painted in 1637, followed in 1641 by the Age of Bronze and Age of Iron. They are regarded among his masterpieces. The artist was subsequently asked to fresco the grand ducal reception rooms; a suite of five rooms at the front of the palazzo. In these five Planetary Rooms, the hierarchical sequence of the deities is based on Ptolomeic cosmology; Venus, Apollo, Mars, Jupiter (the Medici Throne room) and Saturn, but minus Mercury and the Moon which should have come before Venus. These highly ornate ceilings with frescoes and elaborate stucco work essentially celebrate the Medici lineage and the bestowal of virtuous leadership. Cortona left Florence in 1647, and his pupil and collaborator, Ciro Ferri, completed the cycle by the 1660s. They were to inspire the later Planet Rooms at Louis XIV's Versailles, designed by Le Brun.
The collection was first opened to the public in the late 18th century, albeit rather reluctantly, by Grand Duke Leopold, Tuscany's first enlightened ruler, keen to obtain popularity after the demise of the Medici.
My birthday is today and to celebrate it, I am posting my newest art project! Original mosaic art designed by me and made of white Portland cement. Each pecan, chocolate chip, chocolate drop, drop cookies, cut out cookie or pressed cookie was made by hand. I even made a latex rubber mold of real pecans in order to make the nuts for these cookies. I designed the house of styrofoam and covered it with mesh and thinset tile adhesive. Then adhered each cookie with more thinset and added white thinset frosting. Each cookie or candy is my own recipe. All Portland cement based, colored with cement dyes or acrylic paints, the flour on the crackle cookie is stonedust, the sugar on the thumbprint and other cookies is white sand. Colored sand on some cookies, glass gems on some. I've been making these candies and cookies for awhile over several years span.
This is my first mosaic project with it! This is totally weatherproof and weighs a lot but I have an eyebolt on a long threaded rod thru the entire birdhouse, so it can hang. Not for real birds, solid inside.
All the cookies are full size and many look real.
What do you think? I am excited at how it turned out! See more closeups in the set!
I have recycled as many materials as possible in creating this. I get a kick out of doing that. Here I have used some items from thrift shops that were second hand to make the house or the cookies. I have used grout, marble dust that was leftover and in the thrift store. I used second hand thrifted bowls, spoons, spatulas,an old electric kitchen mixer, cookie cutters, plastic containers to mix in from cottage cheese, margarine, etc. Also, I used foam insulation board that was scrap that a neighbor was throwing out. Woohoo!
I'm ready to make a new cookie tile project which will be a backsplash for behind my kitchen sink!
