Compare this with the previous in progress shot to see my work on the canoe. I'm still going to add a light algae layer and specular water droplets.
(The top sketch layer is switched off....which is why the tree and dag's arm are all wobbly, because I can't colour in between lines properly.)
I scanned the sketch in, flipped it back and forth(to get a fresh idea of the composition), that's when I noticed her head was too big/slanted. I rescaled, and rotated her head in photoshop, and then printed it out light blue. Did a bit more pencil work and started the inking right over it.
Sorry for the yellowed pic, didn't have time to scan it in.
After I finish inking this, I'll scan it back in and try to drop out the blue, which should leave me with clean black lines for a speedy photoshop coloring.
Clockwise:
A-1 Skein dipped half in full strength Blue and half in full strength Orange.
B-Started off with washed 5-ply 100% wool yarn (off-white color) with random dots of color (Added vinegar and 1/2 strength colors first then mxing up full strength colors for a total of 6 colors. Not to mention an blended shades as well (Blue, Green Orange Dyes). Lighter shades of color.
C-Finished coloring skeins by diluting remaining green dye with a cup of water and pouring over all the yarn. Then microwave twice at 2 minute intervals and cooling between for 2 minutes.
I'm going to color this with copics, pretty happy with it, though I may go over some of the lines once more. (need to pop out the star lamp thing)
please don't mind the watermarking I put on there for DA.

I decided to make Hexies with my fabric scraps. Not sure what I will end up making. Or when. But eventually it's going to become something.
working on migrating some of my painting/collage sketches into print world... also playing with linocuts for the first time in ages, inspired by another artist I know who has been doing a lot of them of late. So far, I am loving the simplification and additional texture these new prints have. This is turning into an interesting experiment.
