detail. colors look odd in this picture, I think my white balance was off.

WIT: Tough assignment this week as I was on vacation. I was sure I'd find road construction along the way, but I only came across a cone zone with no work in progress. I didn't think the widening valleys or continuing erosion of Zion and the Utah countryside would pass since that progress is way too slow.

 

I found this exhibit at Fort Cove in Utah. Since the items are antiques, I used the old time photo option in Photoshop to change the color cast after cropping out the railing around the exhibit.

Making progress now. The chest has drawers and doors not.

Layered writing - This is still in progress but I was excited and just had to share. I loved the idea of hidden writing that becomes a pattern of its own. I can't wait to see the finished page.

The window won't go down all the way because he made the window sill too deep. And this is the best carpenter we've had on the job. We're just going to fix it ourselves after they leave.

Compare this with the previous in progress shot to see my work on the canoe. I'm still going to add a light algae layer and specular water droplets.

 

(The top sketch layer is switched off....which is why the tree and dag's arm are all wobbly, because I can't colour in between lines properly.)

Clockwise:

A-1 Skein dipped half in full strength Blue and half in full strength Orange.

B-Started off with washed 5-ply 100% wool yarn (off-white color) with random dots of color (Added vinegar and 1/2 strength colors first then mxing up full strength colors for a total of 6 colors. Not to mention an blended shades as well (Blue, Green Orange Dyes). Lighter shades of color.

C-Finished coloring skeins by diluting remaining green dye with a cup of water and pouring over all the yarn. Then microwave twice at 2 minute intervals and cooling between for 2 minutes.
