Large commissioned charcoal (22" x 26"). This is how I usually begin a figurative drawing - sketch first in pencil then start in with the charcoal - eyes first.
My progress so far (re: previous drawing). I think it's sort of bad that I've been drawing late at night so I'm a bit saddened that my 2nd row of girls are sloppier than my first. :( But I'm going to keep on going because it's the most I've ever drawn.
Added to the drawing are:
Latte, Ane Shirley, Lan Ake and Holly.
Designed & folded by kaede nakamura.
Model from "Origami".

Last night's photo had lime layered over day-glo green; which had too
yellowish a result. (bottom shot). The light was terrible yesterday; too - it's easy
to see in the contrast between the yellow tones in her pink hair versus the top shot. Both of these were taken outdoors in the same spot - but there's lots of great indirect light on this beautiful, sunny day!
So... top shot: starting over with only lime green shadow; and lips darker. Completely
untouched, straight off of my camera.

No it's not perfect, it's actually under construction.
Sorry for the drawing spam. ^^; Working on the backgrounds. It's challenging! I never draw more than one character per drawing, and I hardly ever draw backgrounds. Got to keep trying, trying, trying!

Rough sketch in progress. Bringing a 3D effect in the
Pencil Vs Camera series. Choose Peace, not violence.
Note 1: Parts of the paper have been cut at the end to
give an even stronger 3D illusion.
Note 2: See how stretched the drawing looks from the
opposite point of view.
