Blà Bheinn, also known as Blaven, is regarded as an outlier of the Black Cuillin Range and hides its peak behind clouds here behind the waters of Loch Slapin on The Isle of Skye, Scotland. Blà Bheinn is a Munro with its peak at 3,048ft. On a cold and extremely windy day there was another brave soul parked here in a campervan, an artist ready to paint the scene en plein air. I was thankful for the speed of a camera shutter! Enjoy!

Tobermory is the capital of the Isle of Mull, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. It was built as a fishing port in the late 18th century. These brightly painted houses were originally built for £20 each by the British Fisheries Company to house its workers.

Happy Fence Friday! Thanks for stopping by and for all of your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

The Sron is a small bump at 420m height on the ridge leading to Beinn Dearg

An photograph taken from the ferry to Mull, on a calm sea, as the morning mist began to clear.

Black Cuillin - The incredible fairy pools descending Coire na Creiche with the Black Cuillin living up to its name and looking moody and ominous as ever. A shaft of sunlight just catches the distinctive pyramidal pinnacle of Sgurr an Fheadain breaking the darkness of the Cuillin.

Despite searching high and low, no fairies present this day; the presence of the moody Cuillin must have scared them away.

The Lismore lighthouse is located on Eilean Musdile, a small islet in the Inner Hebrides roughly 0.5 km from the Isle of Lismore. It was built by Robert Stevenson in 1833 and was converted to fully automatic operation in June 1965.

This photo of the evening sun lighting up the white walls of the lighthouse was taken on a ferry from Mull to Oban.

Sligachan - The iconic view of the Cuillin and the old Sligachan bridge at the 'crossroads' on Skye. A welcome break in the clouds and a rare glimpse of blue sky and sunshine in between heavy bouts of rain presented a fleeting opportunity to capture this much photographed Skye landmark.

Light on the Storr - An opportune break in the clouds allows sunlight to catch the Storr under a leaden and foreboding sky.

The ominous scene made all the more so with the choppy, darkened water of Loch Fada and the classic view to the Old Man of Storr.

Passing Three Lochs Viewpoint, Isle of Mull, Scotland, on the upper deck of a west coast motors bus at around 30mph,

Our trip to Skye, two years ago was probably my best for photography to date. Neist Point was at the top of my list of places to see on the island but though we visited several times, we weren't often blessed with great conditions. The westernmost point of Skye is very windy and we arrived as snow approached. I looked back through shots on a hard drive, yesterday and thought I could try an edit to bring out the clouds in this shot which was taken as the sun was setting.

On board the Oban to Craignure ferry, I sailed past the slithering land of lismore as it emerged from the mist.

This is the highest hill in Iona called ‘Dun I’ standing at 333ft. The north face looks like a perfect climbing wall.

One more from a day trip out to Loch Coruisk where the light and conditions worked really hard for me making my job a whole lot easier. One of those point and shoot moments.

Thanks for all the comments on my last upload, indeed all my uploads. I'm very grateful and they are all appreciated.

Loch Coruisk sits afoot the mighty Cuillin hills of the Isle of Skye.

First time I've visited Coruisk after many visits to Elgol. It did not disappoint, such an incredible landscape.

Buachaille Etive Mòr (Great Herdsman of Etive), generally known to climbers simply as The Buachaille, is a mountain at the head of Glen Etive in the Highlands of Scotland on route to Glen Coe. Buachaille Etive Mòr takes the form of a ridge nearly five miles (8 km) in length, almost entirely encircled by the River Etive and its tributaries.

Look closely at the bird's leg where a beetle has decided to hitch a lift. I didn't notice it at the time I took the shot

Designed by Robert Stevenson and first lit in 1833, the lighthouse stands on an islet off the tip of Lismore island. A familiar sight to any ferry passengers heading out to the islands from Oban.

My recent trip to the Isle of Mull resulted in alot of Oystercatcher sightings. Up close and in the right light they really are beautiful birds. I wanted to capture two together and with a little patience this pair duly abliged in the evening sunshine

White-tailed Eagle taken from a boat and seen flying off Mull in the Inner Hebrides

Ulva is a small island to the west of Mull. A ferry takes visitors across the short stretch of water that separates Ulva from Mull.

In June 2018, thanks to a crowd-funding appeal and local fundraising, the isle of Ulva passed into community ownership using the provisions of Scotland’s Community Right to Buy legislation.

This photo was taken while waiting for the ferry.

Many thanks for your comments while I've been offline - apologies it has been so long. I'll try and be a better Flickr friend in the days and weeks ahead :-)

An image that caught my eye to shoot while exploring a ruined church on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

The derelict frame representing the present we are all facing and the distance, the future, being beautiful and intriguing yet uncertain.

Stay safe everyone! I'm keeping everything crossed for rollouts of working vaccines and improvements in drug therapies to see us into a clearer future.

I had the chance to visit Lunga in the Treshnish Isles recently to see the large Puffin colony. An amazing experience with loads of photo opportunities

Don't you look at me with those "faraway eye's..

---

In 1527, Lachlan Maclean of Duart decided to murder his wife, Lady Catherine Campbell, a sister of Archibald Campbell, 4th Earl of Argyll. He rowed out to the rock one night at low tide and left his wife stranded on the rock to die. (Wikipedia)

Broadford is situated along the southern edge of the Inner Sound, forming the largest settlement in South Skye. The main pier in Broadford is still used commercially for fishing and other purposes; a small motor boat, the Family's Pride II, also operates trips from here.

In the past Broadford pier was used to ship out Skye marble from the Kilchrist quarries.

It was a fantastic evening at Elgol where conditions were constantly changing as Storm Dennis barreled across the Isle of Skye. We were treated to ever changing conditions, including a rising tide, gale force winds, driving rain, hail pellets, snow, grey skies, broken clouds, flat light which was often quickly followed with moments of gorgeous golden hour light.

There were 7 of us dashing about capturing as many images as we could, in conditions we had only dreamed of before. A majority of us ended up at the JCB (Joe Cornish Boulder) to capture the incoming tide as the sun set. In the distance can be seen the snowcapped Cuillins.

It was a challenge, as the waves broke on the rocks, to keep the sea spray off the front of the lens. As I was walking back to the car in darkness, I thought to myself how fortunate I was!

Thank you for your visit and comment.

A magical moment on Skye, as the sun set and low cloud rolled in from the north. The cloud flowed like slow water over the Bealach Na Beiste between the wonderful mountans Garbh Bheinn (mostly hidden behind Sgurr nan Each on the left if the shot) and Belig (on the right). This was taken from close to the shore of Loch Slappin. Although I didn't know it at the time, it was the beginning of one of the most memorable days I have had in the hills.

Bow Fiddle Rock is a natural sea arch near Portknockie on the north-eastern coast of Scotland. It is so called because it resembles the tip of a fiddle bow. It is composed of Quartzite, a metamorphic rock which was originally quartz sandstone.

This rock is part of the Cullen Quartzite formation which is seen along the coast between Buckie and Cullen. The formation is some 2,400m thick and dates from the Neoproterozoic Era, 1,000 to 541 million years ago.

Rogie Falls are a series of waterfalls on the Black Water, a river in Ross-shire in the Highlands of Scotland. The falls are about 2 km north-west of the village of Contin, next to the A835 road. They are a popular tourist attraction, with several forest walks.

The Hebrides

Can’t believe it was 5 years (2012) when we went here. Have five lots of items to post. This is the second. A very beautiful place to visit with the weather on your side, could imagine it to be very bleak.
